Default Is there any treatment for post-menopausal women with PCOS?

My mom (who's 61) feels very certain that she's had PCOS for many years, but it was never diagnosed. Obviously she's past the fertility issues, but is it worth seeking a diagnosis at this point? She has worked really hard on her weight (she's 5'2" and around 140), but still has that stubborn belly fat we all know so well, so I think she may have some degree of insulin resistance (she also gets skin tags). She's been trying the IR diet with me and feeling better.

She also has high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but those are being treated already.

If diagnosed with PCOS, the only thing I think the doctors could do differently for her is perhaps put her on Metformin.

Has there been any research on treating post-menopausal women with PCOS? Anyone with any experience on this?

She would have to look at it the same as most here do.
She needs to get informed on what hormones can do to the body.

Yes, you still have hormons in meapause.

She needs to list what things are bothering her and then look at treatments for each thing.
She may find that just treating the IR will help a great deal.
But she needs blood tests to determine if that is what she has.

I am in surgical menapause and I don't use any BCP/HRT.
I can't use Gluc/Met because of adverse side effects.

I feel better now than when I was on Met and Yasmin.

Good luck to you both,

Patty
