Default is there anyone else who can't take bcp or provera

Hi. I am wondering if there is anyone else who cannot take bcp or provera due to blood clots. I had a stroke back in 1992 while on provera and i am wondering if there is anyone else. At times i feel all alone.

Hi,

I can not take bcp or provera either. I had a blood clot in my lung 3 years ago following knee surgery. I understand how you feel. It gets really frustrating sometimes. Feel free to PM if you ever want to talk.

I don't know if this is going to help but my flatmate had a clot some yrs ago (at the age of 21!!!) due to a bcp. Sometimes she gets really upset about that. I think it's not necessarily linked to PCOS - the bcp can be really dangerous for any woman but no one tells us!

Hugs Steph

Hi;
I am new to the cysters. I am still very confused about my situation, but I can somewhat relate. I can't take bcp or prevara. My problem was with my mental state not physical. I had horrible side effects to both that made me a bit neurotic. I understand the alone feeling. I wish I could be more helpful to you, but perhaps it will help just to listen. Take Care!

Exclamation BCP and PCOS

I was just reading your post and had to put in my 2 cents. I have PCOS. My doctor is Dr. Glueck in cincinnati. He is an expert on PCOS. You may have even heard of him. Anyway, I took my daughter to him to have her checked (just in case) and he told her/me that she should NEVER let any doctor put her on BCP because the risk for those with PCOS taking BCPs is greater for blood clots He didn't go into details but made his point very clear. I just wanted to share that with all of you.

I don't have clots, but I can't take BCP due to awful migraines. Provera I never had a problem with but I have no need to take it anymore since I'm on other meds.
