What is the difference between Yaz and Yasmin?

My doc prescribed Yaz.

If there is a generic for Yasmin, I'd rather have that because I'd have a much cheaper copay on a generic.

I don't know if there's a generic for Yaz or not, but I do know that there is one for Yasmin (Ocella I think is the spelling). But Yaz and Yasmin are not the same thing.

I think the only real difference is that Yasmin has more estradiol than Yaz.

Recently Ocella, the generic form of Yasmin, became available. Yaz has no generic options as far as I'm aware.
