Question Are these levels ok? (Intro to me included)

Hi Ladies!
I am 24 years old. I havent had any kind of a period on my own in 4+ years. And before the period 4+years ago, it was 2 years before that. I have to take provera to have a bleed. I have fairly severe (in my opinion) hirsutism and the usual weight problem. I have small cysts on my ovaries. My DH and I were married 1 year ago in July. We have not been preventing pregnancy since then (it would be a miracle if my damn ovaries would just work). I finally found an ob/gyn I like and he is referring me to an RE. Appointment is June 28!! DH and I want to be pregnant next summer (figured we would start seeing an RE early).

Anyway, heres my question: My ObGYN drew some b/w and tested my Estradiol and FSH. (no particular day since I dont have periods). The nurse called and gave me the results and said they were normal. My FSH level was 5 and my estradiol level was 65. Ive been researching and it looks like my estradiol is on the high end? Is it higher than it should be? Please comment on my levels! Im worried and will drive myself crazy until the RE Appt.

TIA!!

Welcome!
I just wanted to say hello. It is great that your Dr. referred you to the RE. I am sure that the RE will be able to answer all your questions about levels. I am really not familar with the various levels but I am sure that someone on this site will be able to help you. It is a great source of information.

Most likely your RE will put you Metformin to help regulate your cycles and get your symptoms under control. Don't worry about all those numbers for now. Just work on getting yourself ready for a healthy pg. Take that folic acid!

Best of luck to you!
Tracey

There are several other things that need to be tested besides what she quoted you to check for PCOS. FSH needs to be compared to LH and free testosterone, fasting glucose and fasting insulin are also important.

Check out the sticky at the top of this board that says Guide to Understanding Lap Results. The links will tell you about the tests that are normally done.
