Dani, your doc probably figures that it doesn't matter if you have cysts. She might treat you the same either way.
Did she put you on Met? That helps control the hormones that cause cysts. Some birth control pills can help with that, too (but I don't believe in "treating" PCOS with BCPs, so if that was the only "treatment" you were given, find a new doc).
Usually, the cysts themselves aren't too dangerous, as long as the PCOS is under control. They might cause problems when you're trying to get pregnant, though.
