Default Thin cyster BFP success stories?!?

Hi, I'm a thin cyster TTC. I just started Met 3 weeks ago. I can really use a success story now. Any thin cysters have success with Met only or Met cocktails? I'm just trying to figure out how long I'll have to be on Met before expecting any changes (no AF for almost 4 months now). Congrats to all of you!! Thanks.

I have no Met success story to tell, sorry. But I conceived nearly naturally - I used rx progesterone for 3 (or was it 4) cycles and 2 cycles of homeopathic remedies prior to the one I finally got my bfp and it took us only about 6 months to get pg. My bfp-cycle I was off all the meds. We were absolutely, completely surprised to conceive this fast as I have pco, endometriosis, we are both way in our thirties and have postponed ttc even though I was dg:ed right after millenium. So, I keep telling everyone that anything is possible, even if the docs say your chances are low. Tons of good luck to you!

as there are a few ladies on there who have recently gotten their BFPs. I know one of the girls on there was just using met, so might be worth checking it out.

For me - I conceived naturally, I believe what worked for me was NPC which kick started my hormones into place after no AF for 10 months...it made me O and then I had a normal AF 2 weeks later.

I got my BFP just on metformin. I started taking it after I was dx'd in May and worked my way up to 1700mg. Right away the metformin shortened my cycles and I started ovulating. I took me till my fourth cycle on metformin to get my BFP.

Everybody responds to metformin differently. I'm pretty sure I am IR, although I've never been tested for it. My response to the metformin was pretty dramatic as far as how much better I felt in general. I have heard that for some girls it takes 6 months or more for the met to kick start their system. Some girls have had wonderful success with met and clomid. It really depends on your body.

Hang in there, Nikki! A BFP can happen!

I have a story to share with you!

I was dx with IR PCOS on October 30 of 2008. I hadn't had a period since July 7th and since DH and I were TTC we decided it was time to get checked and find out what was going on (I hate doctors that's why I put it off lol) Anyway, my Gyno put me on 1500 mg of Metformin daily. He said to expect a period anytime. Well November goes by and no period. Then finally in December I get my first period in 5 months! The dr suggested I go on Clomid for the first cycle in January to help me get pregnant, but after a lot of talking and praying DH and I decided it wasn't right for us. I then had a normal period in January, and my last on February 17th. That cycle I got pregnant on!!! It was the first cycle DH and I didn't TRY to get pregnant we just let whatever happened happen.

So keep your head up!! It only took me 2 months from my first period (after starting Met) to get pregnant!!!

Thanks for all the input ladies!! Snow- it's funny you should mention NPC since I was just considering starting it. How did you start it since you had no cycle? Did you just take it for any random 14 day period, then start on more of a cycle for it? How did you know to keep taking it the cycle you got your BFP? (since I know your supposed to stop taking it right before AF). I'm a little confused about the proper use, and I don't want to do it wrong. lol

I was never on medication, but I did conceive naturally on a good prenatal, vitex and cinnammon. I was taking a combination of the 3 after getting off birth control. It slowly regulated my periods and after 6 months I was having 32 day cycles regularly and according to my CBEFM, ovulating. 2 months in a row after that I started spotting around CD 25, so assumed then I had a LPD. Stopped taking the vitex and cinnamon and got pregnant that month - wasn't even actively trying, just sex one night the whole month - wasn't even tracking my O days. So vitex worked well for me as a thin cyster. Not sure if the cinnamon helped either, but worth a shot. Took only 400mg of vitex daily and 1000mg of cinnamon.

Nikki - yeah I started using NPC on a random day after no AF for 8 months (tried vitex with no results). Applied it for 14 days and stopped. Waited and AF never arrived, so applied it again for 14 days and stopped...again no AF. Then tried a different brand for 14 days and O'd 6 days after stopping rather than getting AF...AF came two weeks after that (10 months after stoping BCP). Some ladies will have to give it a couple of goes before they get AF from using it and it usually takes 3 months of using it to help balance out hormones. The plan I had was I would then wait till at least CD35 to O and if I didn't then I'd use NPC to bring on AF (like provera). During a my BFP I started using it at 3dpo then carried on using it once I got my BFP without stopping, I'm still using it now and will carry on until at least the 1st trimester. If you do use NPC after you O, only stop applying it if AF arrives or if you get a BFN as stopping using it suddenly when pg can lead to a m/c due to the drop in progesterone. HTH

Nikki - I used Serenity original, though I ordered it from the UK as I'm on the continent in Europe, it is made in the USA though so available over there too. I recently ordered a new brand Natpro which I'll be using once my serenity tub runs out. If you do a search on SC, or put a question on alternative remedies section of SC I'm sure more ladies will be able to give you some other good brands. Just make sure it's all natural as there can be some types that use synthetic progesterone. Make sure it uses USP progesterone and not wild yam as wild yam cream doesn't contain any progesterone.
