What makes one a “thin cyster”? Is it being naturally thin no matter what your diet and exercise is like, or do some of you work to stay thin? The term “thin cyster” always confused me. I have the weight issues that he majority of women with PCOS has, but was able to overcome it. Would that make me “thin” or still classic because I cant let myself go?

I don't know... before the PCOS symptoms hit I was naturally very thin, but now I am still on the small side but I have to somewhat watch what I eat or else the pounds will pile on.

SO I have always been thin. 5'2" 100lbs...the most ever was 109(when I was steroids 10 years ago for an unrelated medical problem).
I have alot of the symptoms of PCOS but both my endo and I are not sure if I have PCOS since my hormones are almost normal and my periods are almost normal too.
I was wondering how many of you are on Spiro?
If so--what dose?
Have any of you skinny/petite women done well on only 100mg daily of spiro or did you need 200mg/day?
Just wondering if I should increase my dose to 200mg/day even though I am less than 1/2 the size of most patients on 200mg/day.
I consider myself a "thin" cyster by nuture—after going of BCP I started packing on the pounds (up to 170). Only by a very, very careful diet and lots of exercise can I stay at a healthy weight.
But I still consider myself a "thin" cyster because every doctor I've been to modifies my treatment on the basis that I'm at a healthy weight.

I consider myself thin by nature because I'm able to maintain my weight without exercise or dieting. Now I'm not a size 6, but I suppose I could be if I were willing to put in the effort. I was a little pudgier that I cared for during my first marriage, but I think that was stress related. No matter what I did, I couldn't lose the weight during that time. When we got divorced I lost all of it plus some.

Thats pretty much me too. Though I don't rely on doctors to know how to treat PCOS anymore anyway, none of them recommend Met or any other type of treatment to me anymore. Now I have to tell they WHY I have PCOS. Before, all they had to do was look at me and tell.
But I cant eat anything I want and I must exercise.

I'm definitely "nuture". I joined WW not because I needed to lose but because I'd noticed I was still gaining weight after I'd stopped growing taller and I didn't know how to make it stop. It was really hard. 1200 calories to maintain, 900 to lose. My favorite part about low-carb and met is that I can eat like a normal person now.
I was wondering about that too. I was trying to figure out where *I* fit it. I'm 5'3" 135 lbs (23.9 BMI) which is in the healthy range, but is it thin? Also I used to be ALWAYS 121-123 (which I would definitely consider thin, I was a size 4) but I got on the depo provera shot and then I gained 20 lbs and have not til this day been able to get back down to that.

Hi girls,
I'm only new to this, so bare with me I had my u/s today and Im 99/99% sure I have pcos. My endo suspected it, hencec why he ordered the u/s in the first place, and seeing the scans on the screen just confirmed it for me.
My problem is im not overweight, im actually underweight. Im 105 pounds and 5'5" and ive been like that my whole life (thin that is). Ive had problems putting on and just gaining weight my whole life, so my question is, will any medication for PCOS help me gain weight? Im at my wits end and if this doesnt work, then i dont know what will.
Ive had amenorrhoea for nearly 7 mths, acne, elevated hormone levels, and on top of all that, osteoporosis. So if anyone had any ideas, Im all ears!!
BTW - Im seeing my endo in 2 weeks, so I wont know abt any meds until then.
Cheers,
5'4" 105 lbs, always been on the thinner side, never overweight although my weight did fluctuate when I was in college and on birth control. Now after going off birth control, it's hard to keep the weight on. It can be so frustrating when a lot of the advice on how to help PCOS symptoms is to lose weight when I struggle to maintain the weight I still have.
I'm 5'3" and 110. I eat a really healthy diet and exercise frequently. I have since I was 14. But if I let myself go I can gain about 5 pounds pretty easily, but that's about it. On BCP it was easier to gain the weight, but now that I'm off it's hard to keep the weight on at times. I also find it frustrating that much of the info on PCOS is geared toward larger women, it makes me wonder if some of the treatments prescribed really shouldn't for me.
