Who we are…
We are a group of women who are considered thin and still have PCOS. Most of us are TTC but fortunetly we have some pregnant members now & can’t wait till we have some mommies too. We’re here to support eachother through the ups & downs of dealing with PCOS while trying to start a family
well girls, please check out this Link to see what I tried to do for us... I guess it doesn't work on these board so this is the best I could do
Could you all check out your info in the header & verify that it is correct? I tried to link charts to names so if you have a chart online & it's not there, please let me know.
Also, is there other info you would like me to include?
Please, check in & update me with info I don't have of you, such as your EDD or your TTC date.
Thanks!! I hope this helps us keep track of eachother now!
Also, I tried to find most everyone I could. If you're not up there, please let me know & I'll be happy to add you ASAP!!
Depending on how quickly we move we can start a new thread every few weeks or so...
let me know what you think!

I may be having a blonde moment (that's bad since I am not blonde!!), but how will this work differently than the other place?

No, no blonde moment, it doesn't work differently at all, it's just that now we have a 'header' in which we can keep track of all the 'members.' Anyone is free to join or leave whenever they like, but when a group gets as big as ours it's hard to keep everyone strait. This way we can see who is involved, and who is in what stage. It's also a place where we can see someone's chart (if it's online) without having to go find a specific post from them.
In my experience it's common to start a new thread every week/2-weeks/month just to keep things moving & updated. We can chose to do that or not. hope that makes sense

Thanks for starting the new thread. It's much easier to navigate and stay on top of things when the thread isn't 10 pages long!
Just to recap who I am...
Melissa TTC since 3/02
32
DH is 34
thin cysters not IR
on met 1500 since 9/03 (not sure if it's working)
I have 36-43 day cycles.
Acupuncture, moderate carbs, yoga
flax, vitex, B-complex, multi
Getting anxious to try something else to make cycles shorter. I've tried soy and vitex. I will probably try Clomid in May (unless I get lucky this time around).
It's great to have pg Rae on this forum. It gives me some hope!
I'm crossing my fingers that more and more of us move to the pg side of thin cysters. Heaps of babydust.....
I've been out of touch because of a family emergency but things are beginning to calm down a little. I'm going to try to get back in the loop of this TTC community.
Today is actually a big day for me. I finished my 5 days of Clomid (100mg) last Saturday. Today, which is Day 11, I'm going back to the RE for an ultrasound to see if there are any follicles. I don't want to get my hopes up too much but it's hard not to of course.
This is my second round of Clomid. The first one (last month) was 50mg. I saw the RE on Day 20 and he said I didn't ovulate. So, he said we should try another cycle but up it to 100mg. And this time, he's monitoring with the ultrasound and if we get a follicle, he'll do an IUI. I like that I'll be more "supervised" this time around.
I've also been on 1500mg of Metformin for the past 3 weeks. Before the I was on 1000mg for 10 weeks with no results (I haven't had a period since I went off BCP last year).
I don't know if this is a good sign, but here's what I keep thinking about: when the Clomid didn't work last month the RE induced a period with Norethindrone. I've always taken Provera, which just makes me spot for a day, but when I finished the Norethindrone I had a "real" period--three days of flow! It just makes me wonder if the 1500mg of Metformin is doing something, if my body is finally starting to cycle. I mean, where did all that blood come from?

Rae ~ Wow! That is a lot of sleep! I'll make that change for you, I can see how it's important!
Melissa ~ Thanks for the recap - it really helps a lot to keep track. I like knowing what everyone is trying & how it's going. I added your info into the header. If the Met gives me cycles like yours are now I'll be happy. I hope you can find something to reduce them even more!
Brooklyn ~ That's very interesting about the Norethindrone. I've never heard about it before. Wishing you tons of success w/ the clomid this cycle!! If you tell me when you started TTC I'll add it to the header.
It would be great if everyone would check in & update us on when you started TTC, what treatments you're using & how you're eating. I think it would be helpful info so that even people who lurk can see the kinds of things we try. I obviously can't include EVERYTHING we're doing, but the main things, kwim?

This is awesome, I like the list. I was a lurker on the TTC thread till about post 250, I lost track when I got a BFP. And it is wonderful to see teh familiar names again on a brand new thread.
I have joined Rae on the pregnancy board. So I am at least a lurking graduate ;-)
Sending lots of babydust to all the TCTTC group!
Hope we can all meet on the mommie board soon!

Thanks, Brenda. We've been TTC since January 2004. This is my 2nd cycle of Clomid.
So, I had my RE appointment this afternoon and the ultrasound showed very small (too small) follicles. RE said it's too hard to say right now if the Clomid is working. I'm supposed to go back on Thursday for another ultrasound and we'll see if the follicles are any bigger. If they're not, she said they can give me an injectable to see if that helps. But she also said it's a delicate balance, that the injectable could lead to too many follicles and that's not desirable either... Has anybody had any experience with this?
By the way, I asked about the Norethindrone and the RE said it is stronger than Provera hence the more impressive withdrawl bleeding. Good to know.

hey, i made it to the first page! um, i think, anyway. pages are usually 15 posts long, right?
anyhow.
thanks for getting the new board going, brenda. i love the list at the top.
i'm back from london.
unfortunately we didn't got our morning bd in. and, i got back so late last night (okay, it was only 10:30, but it felt really late) that all i did was take a warm bath and then went to sleep. today though.....
i'm a bit concerned about my temps. they'd been so solid, and a few days ago they started slipping. this morning started a climb again, so that's good. i figure it probably has something to do with my being very worried about going to london. i'm the sort of person that starts thinking too much about what could go wrong. it was a great trip though. i got to read the whole 3 1/2 hour train ride down-- if anyone likes 'in the near future' tech sci-fi, i highly recommend tad williams' 'otherland' series. i'm in the middle of book one, and really enjoying it. the hotel was decent, small room with a shower and tv, but it felt nice and safe. (i would have preferred a bathtub). our meeting was good, and afterward i ran around covent gardens with a couple people i met at the meeting (my train didn't leave for a couple hours after the meeting ended). i had to keep reminding myself that i wasn't in some new part of san francisco, though.
but, back to this world. i've been maybe crampy. i'm not sure. feeling something anyway. mostly left sided, which is weird, cause usually if i feel anything at all it's mild and on the right. this has been uncomfortable. and my teeth taste like i'm wearing braces again. very strange. maybe left over nervousness about london? it was really strong yesterday, and still present today. but my temps are so much lower than they have been. i've also not been super good about taking met over the past few days. i usually get my morning dose in, and monday i got both, but like last night, i was at a restaurant with new friends, and i totally forgot. could this be affecting my temps? also, i forgot this morning because we overslept, and the library closes early today.
if we put our sig info on the top of the page, as well as how long we've been ttc, we won't have to keep posting it on the rest of the board. keep each page that much smaller. not that i'm helping to keep it small with the length of this post.... also, where's kbug? she should be on the list, too.
oops. i can't remember things from the previous board....
let me try.....
someone stopped met, is this because of the weight loss? or because there wasn't significant improvement of other symptoms? if the latter, i'm not sure two cycles is long enough. unless those two cycles were a few months long each. that would be different. aren't we supposed to give met six months before it really starts working to its full potential? i could be wrong.
that's about all i can remember. sorry. my brain is a puddle. i should have had breakfast.
'til next time,
hannah

First off, I am so sorry Kbug I don't know how you didn't get on my list. I did a lot of copy & pasting & must've missed you somehow.
If there is anyone else that I missed please let me know!
Hannah ~ I think it could easily be your trip that messed w/ your temps, although sometimes dips indicate O is comming....
Six ~ Can you tell me about what they do during accupressure? I'm interested but would like to know more specifics!
Brooklyn ~ I've read that sometimes Clomid can take up to 3 cycles before it makes big enough follies. Are you on bcp cycles in-between clomid cycles? I know some cysters do that too. I hope that it works for you soon.
Zebra ~ Thank's for stopping by, it's so nice to hear of another PG thin cyster. Would you like me to add you to our header?

I finally got a chance to speak to my NP, and she said my doctor was fine with putting me on Metformin. The protocol she told me about (start with 500 -- is it mg? or i.u.? -- 1x a day with a meal then go to one 2x a day and then one 3x a day until I'm up to 1500 a month) was exactly what I'd researched. I feel good about this. And my insurance actually covered it! The NP said it was kind of a "don't ask, don't tell" situation. Since it isn't officially a drug for infertility (which my insurance doesn't cover) they assume it's for diabetes and they cover it. I only had to pay $10 for 90 pills.
Six, I'd like to hear more about the accupressure, too.
Brooklyn, I tried Clomid three times and nothing happened. I also did three cycles of injectables. The first time only a few developed, but the second time there were too many and we had to stop the cycle. The last time my doctor had me do a very low dosage for a long time (over twenty days -- can't remember exactly how many) and finally just at the end a few follicles jumped ahead of the pack. So it's possible to have only a few, but you might have to experiment with the dosage.
Scout ~ Congrats on the Met! My Dr. had me take 1/2 pill 3x per day so I started @ 750mg, but I know a lot of people who did it the way your doc told you & I think it's great! Thanks for the info on your history w/ clomid & injectibles. Have you / do you ovulate on your own at all??
Bren -- fabulous job on the new thread header. Love it. I've been TTC since 08/03 2,000mgs of Met, Yoga...should have some decision on diet tomorrow after meeting w/ naturopath. On another topic...had a dream the other night that you had a newborn baby! I went to some sort of ceremony for your little one (baptism, baby naming...something like that). So you need to get a BFP and prove me psychic!
Hannah - it may be that your trip messed with your temps. Or as Brenda suggested it could mean that you are getting ready to O. Low stable temps are a good sign of impedning O. I forgot...are you doing clomid this cycle? Thanks for the book recommendation. Seems all I read these days are health oriented things. I need something more creative and "escapist." Well-done sci fi is one of my favorite things to read.
Scout - good news about met (it's measured in mgs). And, glad you had no insurance issues either!
Brooklyn - sending you follie growing vibes. Update us when you find out more info. on Thursday.
Six - of course, I'm curious about the accupressure too. I actually have this old book I bought at a used book store for a dollar called "Accupuncture without Needles" that has an accupressure protocol for irregular menstrual cycles. I'm curious to see if Dr. Lewis's book offers the same/similar advice. I have a reflexology book too (and a pair of those silly reflexology socks ) that suggests that massaging two points behind your ankle bones are recommended for fertility, along with massaging your big toe to stimulate the pituitary.
Zebra - thanks for popping in! Hopefully more of us will be joining you soon.
Melissa - hmmm...maybe you could ask about upping your met to shorten your cycles. Mine have been 25-27 days since starting on 2,000mgs (was on 500mgs for a while). I maybe looking at clomid soon too...
Rae - well, it's probably good your getting your rest now b/c it might be hard to come by when the baby comes. Glad you're doing well.
Genie - no shame in blonde moments. I'm blonde too and I definitely have them.
I think this new thread is going to bring us lots of luck and many BFPs in the next few weeks.
Babydust to all!
Lissa
