Default Thin cysters on Avandia?

Is anyone out there taking or have taken this for treatment of pcos? I just got a prescription to try and see what happens. I have always used bc pills and used clomid to get pregnant. I am done with that now and considering the insulin role in my pcos. My RE likes to put thinner women who are not trying to conceive on avandia or actos. I will take 4mg. once a day. Any help or sharing of your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Chrissy,

I'm sure this is a very stupid question but I'm new to all of this.... What is Avandia? I assume it is a drug that controls insulin. What is the difference between met and avandia?

It sounds like a great idea to try to control your insulin instead of bcp alone. I am going to see the RE Thursday and I'm wondering what he'll say about insulin sensitizing meds.

I'm not a thin cyster, but i've been doing some research for a book I'm writing about PCOS. Have you considered taking Chromium Picolinate suppliments? Recent studies show this to be exceptionally effective in reducing Insulin levels and it doesn't have the unpleasant side affects of Metformin. You can get it in Australia at Chemists (drug stores) and health food shops.
In the research articles section you can read the study I am refering to.

Anyone ever used this? Please share experiences.

Hi ladies. Thanks for replying. Avandia is an insulin sensitizing drug that helps lower insulin. It is used to treat IR and recently PCOS. I have read that many lean pcos patients do well with it and it doesn't have the bad s/e like glucophage. It will not lower blood sugar. It is not used in pregnancy so if you are trying to get pregnant the dr. may use glucophage instead. Many lean women with pcos are not helped by diet as much since theirs seems to be a true endocrine dissorder not brought on by weight gain. This drug has shown promise helping women with PCOS cycle and ovulate on their own. I can't imagine not having to take bc pills anymore. WE'll SEE!!! I'll keep everyone posted as I progress through this. Here is a link to try and look up meds. for pcos before your dr. appointment.

I did try chromium and it didn't help my cycle. Maybe it did help insulin though.

I'll keep everyone posted.
Chris
