Default Thin cysters--did clomid work for you?

Hi Ladies!

I've been on Met 2000 mg a day for almost two months now, and still no AF or signs of O. I'm feeling really disappointed--I'd really hoped Met would work for me.

Soon I'm planning to add Clomid to the mix....but I read such grim statistics about success rates with thin cysters and Clomid.

My questions are:
How long did it take Met to work for you--if it did work for you?
Did clomid or a Met+Clomid mix work for you?

I'm thin, active, and don't have periods on my own (need Provera to start). I'm really hoping that the Clomid + Met will work for me, and I'm hoping some of you ladies can give me reason to believe!

Thanks; you guys are great.

Default I'm Curious Too!!

I'm curious like Mrs.Byron! I'm a Thin Cyster @5'2" and 118 lbs. I JUST started my 2nd cycle of Provera. I get no periods otherwise. I'm on day 7 of the 10 day script. Then I'm to take Clomid on CD 3-7. I've been trying to educate myself and wondering if Clomid is the right way to go.....

It's tough processing so much information....I have charts and instructions posted all over my bathroom of what the heck to take when!

I ovulated on clomid but did not get pregnant. I got pregnant with injectables and iuis. My progesterone levels were much higher on injectables that with clomid. I don't know why.

I'm trying Clomid for the first time, so I don't have any results to report yet, but I don't have a good feeling about it. I'm all dried up, and that's bad, right? I think i have hormone issues and don't ovulate very often even though the doc didn't find anything in my bloodwork.

Hi Ladies,

I'm also a thin cyster. Always have to use provera to get AF. Met did nothing for me as far as making me O. It did make me feel much better as far as energy and weight control (I was gaining weight if I even dared to so much as to look at food). I did the Met + Clomid combo and had no O or even a dominant follie. I switched to Femara this cycle and had one follie on CD 18 so I triggered and did IUI. In Clomid's defense, I wasn't being monitored past CD12 when I was on it so I might have had a follicle develop later but my Dr. missed it and I never triggered.

I hope that helps!

Clomid did nothing for me. I've done two cycles of clomid (50 mg then 100 mg) and did not ovulate. I was also on 1500 mg of Metformin for six months and did not ovulate with that either. My progesterone is always below 1 on cycle day 21 - that could be the culprit. I plan on calling my RE next monday and I think I will ask about switching to Femara. It seems like clomid is just wasteing my time.

Clomid definitely did not work for me. And I really gave it a good try!

I am a thin cyster (109lbs, 5'2")). I just went through my first round of Clomid 50mg CD5-9 along with Metformin 1000mg/day. I actually had 1 follicle develop and my uterine lining looked great. My follicle was 20.3mm and uterine lining was 8.23mm when I triggered at CD17. According to my fertility monitor and OPK, I ovulated. I am still in the 2ww. I got anxious and tested this morning (BFN). Maybe it was too early. I'm supposed to test on Friday. Even if I don't get my BFP, at least the Clomid produced a follicle and I ovulated.

Unfortunately I did not ovulate on Clomid! Gonal-F and Luveris worked for ovulation, but no BFP's.

I got pregnant easily the first time with only 2 rounds of clomid at 50 mg. but ttc #2 was a lot harder as I sometimes wouldn't ovualte even on 200mg clomid. I had also been on metformin 850 twice a day for about 4 months. we were ready to switch to injectables, but decided to try a last ditch effort with high dose clomid for 10 days with prednisone because my RE is 1.5 hours away, and the frequent visits (at least a 4 hour round trip) for monitoring the injectables several times a week would have been really hard on me. and surprisingly, it worked. I am 14 wks pregnant now and still can't believe it. So I still think clomid has it's place--it's certainly a lot easier to use, and way cheaper than injectables, and it's worked twice for me so far. I also think metformin takes at least 3 months to be effective.

I did two rounds of clomid with nothing. My doctor wants me to go on Met and try one more round of Clomid but I am hesitant because of how long I hear Met takes to actually be effective. I would like to try lezarole instead.

Clomid has not helped me yet. My RE started me on 50mg and monitored me with u/s and b/w on CD 11,14 and 17- no large follicles. On CD 17, she bumped me up to 100mg and I have had some cramping yesterday and today, so I'm hoping that that means that my body is responding. I go back on Saturday for yet another u/s and b/w, hoping this time I will have at least one large follicle and can give myself the Ovidrel shot.

Yes, clomid worked for me, BUT I did get AF on my own to start, just had very long cycles (anywhere from 45-63 days apart). So I don't know if I ovulated with every cycle.

My DD was the result of 150mg clomid + synthroid (which I stayed on throughout my pregnancy and after, probably for life, I guess) + 1500mg of metformin + trigger shot + IUI.

After DD was born, I did not have AF return while breastfeeding, but once DD was weaned, my cycles seemed to regulate. This gave us hope to TTC#2 without clomid and I got a BFP on metformin alone (just hoping it's going to be sticky!).

Good luck! There is definitely hope. It can just take a different cocktail for some ladies. There is also the possibility that once you have a successful pregnancy, conceiving again will not be so hard. Doesn't work that way for everyone of course, but it does for some.

I did two rounds of Clomid with my regular Gyn. AF was induced with an gestagen before. Both cycles were not monitored but BBT-charted. In the first cycle I may had an O. Actually - I don't know, same for my doc. 2nd cycle definately was anovulatory. When I asked my gyn about more monitoring I got the referral to RE.

So here I am.
At first got the DX, then got strict order not to BBT and not to do OPK, because this creates more stress than it would help, then got the statement my cycle is fixed at CD5 and then got Met. 3x500mg. 23!! days later I got AF on my own. I do not know if I o that cycle, but it is possible. Unfortunaltely this work of Met did not happen again. So I got gestagen again to induce AF and subsequently FSH and trigger. This seems to work for me. Tomorrow is supposed to be O-day!!

I know, this is not what you wanted to hear. My advice, if you decide for Clomid then insist on subsequent monitoring via u/s and trigger shot.

Good luck!

I have just started clomid this month and i do get AF on my own just not always a O, it seems clomid is less effective if the af needs to be induced as aposed to if it sometimes does so on its own. I have already concieved naturally without anything which was a mega suprise but it did not stick . So i am really praying on clomid i get my baby soon, due to family history I really can't afford to wait years for one.

Clomid also has low succes rates on women with PCOS due to the insulin resistance we sometimes have.

I hope your clomid treatments work for you girls best of luck xXx
