Default Thin Cysters on Met

I know there is a thread like this for ttc but I was wondering if Met alone has helped any of us thin cysters with acne or hair growth? I am contemplating going on birth control pills but I gained weight on them last time and would rather not if the met alone will help my symptoms. I am on 1000 mg/day. Thanks!!

I was on Met for a couple of years. I mainly took it to have regular AF, and to ovulate. Which after being on it for 2 months I got first AF, then one each month. I'm pregnant now due to Metformin.
After a while my mild acne cleared up and I had less facial hair. But it made me loose my hair on the top of my head. Since Met depletes the body of vitamin B-12. So I would defiantly take a mult-vitamin and a B-complex. After the B-complex got good and in my system, the hair loss slowed down.
I personally despise birth control and refuse to ever go on them again. I love Metformin, once I got past the side effects. But what it does for some, it may not do for others.
Good luck to you!!

I have noticed a difference in hair growth and acne since I have been taking metformin. I am now on 1500mg a day. I would not recommend birth control. I think if you keep taking metformin then you will be happy with the results, but everyone is different.

Thank you I will stay with the met alone for a while! It has been almost a month but only a week and a half on 1000mg. I hope it works!!!

Default Weight Gain, Side effect

Two questions:
1) Met side effects
I am a thin cyster (I have to exercise and eat low carb to stay lean...I have never been obese but can easily gain wieght), have not tested IR (although I definitely experience symptoms that would support IR such as wierd rx to eating carbs) am not ttc but am considering taking met. Has anyone experienced wieght gain from met and/or the return of other symptoms. Some people have mentioned they love how they feel on met...how so? Could you explain.

2) side effects of coming off of bcp while waiting to see if met works?
I am currently on bcp and aldactone. I would have to come off of bcp to see if the met works. I am woried that if the met doesn't work for me, during that time of wiating I will be off bcp and my symptoms may come back. Anyone have experience wiht this?

I am soooo anxious, scared and frustrated.

Thanks
