I hope that this question does not offend any fluffier cysters. I noticed alot of cysters conceive after losing weight, so I was just curious if being thin makes us more fertile? Are we more responsive to Clomid??
I really can't answer this question. But I'm a thin cyster and been TTC for about 7-8 years now.

My twin sister has two children one was conceived naturally the other she had minimal help with .. what I wanted to say was her doctor told her that thinner cysters have a better chance of conceiving ... whether this is true I dont know .. I am thin and I have never had a pregancy scare !

Clomid did absolutely nothing, I've done 2 cycles of repronex and even though it took a while for me to make follies, I'm still not pg.
I'm pretty sure weight loss will not help me as I'm already thin enough. Around here, it seems that the fluffier cysters seem to have an easier time getting pg. (there are a few on the board that started TTC around the time I did or after and they are already on their 3rd pg)
I agree with you Jenika21. But I think everybody is different with PCOS. I work with a girl that is thin and was pregnant within 6 months of being on chlomid. Who knows...
Leann-don't worry about discouraging me, you were being honest about your situation.
I kind of thought that we might have more trouble than the fluffier cysters because, the #1 thing I keep reading to regain fertility is to lose weight. Now I could *maybe* lose about 5 lbs but anything more wouldn't be very healthy....
But on the other hand I thought we might be more responsive to lower doses of clomid because of our size....oh well I guess only time will tell for me *sigh*
Jenika,
the reason the #1 advise to TTC cysters on the fluffy side to loose weight is that there is some sort of effect of teh fat cells on the estrogen in the body. the details are beyond me, I just snooped in DH's OBGYN review book for his med school rotation...
It does not however have the same effect for us thin cysters. Ovulation and timing is the essence to becomeing pregnant, and getting that going is what is so challenging.
I hope it will work sooner rather than later for those here ttc!
I did loose about 20lbs abotu a year prior to ttc. I think it was more about getting my metabilism in shape, cause I got diagnosed with IR, and trying to figure all that out rather than loosing weight to TTC. (I was 125 when I got pregnant), So I think getting my IR under control, and taking met was what actually got me on an almost regular cycle schedule, not the actual weight loss.
Hope that helps.

Although I am not yet pregnant, I believe taking some of the same steps as fluffy cysters can help thin cysters: eat right, exercise. We just dont need to watch our calories with the intent to drop weight.
Before diagnosis, my bbt chart was all over the place. Since cutting out high-carb foods and increasing protien and veggies, my bbt chart has a nice pattern from cycle to cycle. I also get regular exercise. I think/hope now it's just a matter of getting that BD timing right.
My Dr. did mention that she's seen wonderful results with Glucophage (metformin) for thin cysters. So, that is an option soon for me.

I did do a little research online and what I found was definetly discouraging. One website states that
"There seems to be a distinct group of thin PCOS patients that may have even more firmly entrenched hormonal and fertility problems."
It's been a while since I've been on the message boards. I am also a thin and had great success with Met alone. Once i got on the full dosage of 1500 mg, I conceived my son in 3 months. We are TTC again and hopefully we will have quick results again.
