Thanks!

There is a ton of research showing it works for non IR cysters, but then also just as much saying the opposite, but it can't hurt, and for me it is so affordable that I have to try it before I go down the fertility route $$$$$. It is kind of annoying that doctors aren't even aware met can be used for women like us and that we don't have a say in it.

I don't think (but don't really know) that Met did anything for me, but I think it's definitely worth trying, since it's cheap and noninvasive.

My Mood: Points: 8,202.06 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,202.06 | Yeah definitely find a DR that will rx Met! My endocrinologist wouldn't, he kept saying just wait and see what happens (I hadn't been having any cycles). I was so frustrated, the more I read about PCOS, thin or not, they needed to be on Met when TTC. So I took all my records and went to my OB GYN and demanded a referral to a RE if she wouldn't rx me met (more for insurance reasons). well lo and behold she rx'd Met with no problems! She said that is the recommended 1st step for women with PCOS. She said we'd try that, then add clomid, and if still no pg then refer to RE. Well Met alone worked on the 1st month!

When I first went to my RE, he tested me for IR and when he found I was OK, he discounted met from my treatments. That was four failed IUIs ago, though, and now I'm looking at doing IVF for the first time. But I'm meeting with the IVF RE on Wednesday and met is on my list of questions.

I really did not think the clomid alone would work, but I gave it a try. I think it depends on the individual and what your doctor thinks. Good luck!

What were any of your side effects from clomid? There is so much positive energy on this site, and many women with children. There is hope. |

Clomid didn't work for me, so maybe I shouldn't respond to your question about side effects. But, just in case, I can tell you that my biggest side effect was night sweats and slight headaches. One of my closest friends had massive mood swings on it, though, and it turned out she couldn't take it. It all depends on your own body and the dosage, of course. I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck, sweet!

My Mood: Points: 29,341.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 29,341.81 | Jackie--my side effects were minimal. I got some pretty bad hot flashes, but that's about it. No major mood swings or anything else. But I too, had a friend who got really bad mood swings and she supposedly gained like 10 pounds per round (I think she did 4 rounds).
