I had to gain a good 10 lbs in order to O and get my BFP. I had to STOP EXERCISING like a crazy woman (running and lifting a lot of weight were the main culprits) and start eating fats. And not just "healthy" fats like nuts and avocado. I had to eat ice cream and full-fat yogurt. As soon as put on the weight, I started O-ing (based on fertility signs and a few OPKs...) and within 4 months or so, I got my BFP.

It seems soooooo counterintuitive in our society - and esp. here in PCOS land - to GAIN weight... but just think about it - your body needs to be a healthy, hospitable place to grow a LO. I know for me personally, until I gained some weight my body def. wasn't.

My doctor wouldn't put me on Met either, since I'm thin (she didn't seem to think it was necessary for PCOS in general, either) but after doing a lot of reading I insisted on it. I started today.

I was eating a low GI diet but worried that it might make me lose weight, so I've been eating a lot of good fats. I ate avocados, walnuts and almonds every day the month I got my BFP (which ended at 5 weeks).

Like amdg, I also eat whole fat dairy! It's more "natural," and it's been shown to help with conception. Plus, it's yummy.
