I started back on Follistim last night. I had to go get another baseline ultrasound since this is my 4th cycle on follistim. The weird thing is that last month I had 6 follies so my RE said that I could not do IUI as there was a high chance of multiples. This month when I go see him, he says I have two follies from last months cycle. Huh?

Thanks for all of the support. It really means so much to me. All in all, the surgery went well. The highlights:

+ They founds tons of adhesions and scar tissue from my appendectomy 12 years ago, which they were able to remove;
+ There was a lot of endo forcing my left ovary towards my uterus, which they were also able to remove;
+ My tubes have rings of scar tissue and endo, which they were able to partially clear, but said they are pretty damaged (this makes me very sad);
+ My ovaries and uterus look great, so IVF is the next step (no reason to do injectables/IUI with these tubes).

I was pretty emotional about the whole thing yesterday, which I think was exasperated by the meds. Feeling better today, but maybe it's just the high from the codeine. And the endless HBO on-demand.

keo - did you hear back from the dr yet? I get so anxious waiting for them sometimes.
btw, I live by Columbia U and see Dr Keltz at St. Lukes. I just switched to him from Cornell. Cornell was great in many ways, but it was a bit factory-like and my Dr there didn't seem concerned with treating my PCOS. I was actually there for about 6 months before I realized that they hadn't even done PCOS b/w on me. My new RE is very thorough, so that's reassuring...

Stef - That's great news about your ob/gyn. Since you aren't going to get a mid-cycle u/s, you might want to try charting to see when you o'd and then schedule the b/w for 7dpo. On Clomid, I typically o'd cd14-18, but some cysters don't o till the mid-20s. CD21 b/w might not give you the best snapshot of your cycle.

Welcome, Robyn. I am so sorry about your m/c. ((hugs))

Relka - Ugh, you must be so frustrated. I'm shocked that it could go from 12mm to less than 1mm so quickly. I thought once they hit 12ish that they were pretty stable. It's like getting punched in the gut. Did your RE recommend anything for the rest of the cycle?
Btw, thanks for the info on shared risk. I think you can tell how lame my cursory search was...

Avenue - I get EWCM several times per cycle and it's always associated with estrogen surges. I typically get it when I O, mid-LP, and right before/during AF. I've never been PG, so I don't know if people get it then too.

EllieAnna - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Laura32 - Rootbeer floats?? Girrrrllllll, me thinks I need to demand one of those from DH when he gets home from work. I haven't had one of those in ages! Mmmmmm...

After soy, Femara, Follistim, an ectopic pregnancy, and IVF, FINALLY BFP 8/08 -- twins -- but lost baby B somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks. Hoping for a healthy singleton birth...

I WISH my insurance covered IVF. I really see that in my future... my RE does do the shared risk plan, where you pay for 2 cycles and get 3 (plus 3 frozen transfers if necessary), and I'd probably do that b/c I like the odds better, but that would be something like $20-30K up front. We're already saving for it.
Tummy,
I have only O on clomid, 100mg. This is my 2nd cycle on Femara and I've given up testing after 4 days and no O. I think my previous RE thought injectables were too risky and IVF a sure thing. I agree with her on that, but I'd rather not do IVF until I've tried lots of versions of the fertility drugs. My insurance covers one session of IVF, $10K for a lifetime. That's why I don't want to use it up so fast. My RE said that the money for injectables would come out of the IVF fund, so either/or I could try, and so I'm holding off. Does your insurance cover the injections?
