I am reposting b/c I think my last one got garbled (thanks for the new thread, Whitney!):
---------------------------------------------------
Thanks for all of the support. It really means so much to me. All in all, the surgery went well. The highlights:
+ They founds tons of adhesions and scar tissue from my appendectomy 12 years ago, which they were able to remove;
+ There was a lot of endo forcing my left ovary towards my uterus, which they were also able to remove;
+ My tubes have rings of scar tissue and endo, which they were able to partially clear, but said they are pretty damaged (this makes me very sad);
+ My ovaries and uterus look great, so IVF is the next step (no reason to do injectables/IUI with these tubes).
I was pretty emotional about the whole thing yesterday, which I think was exasperated by the meds. Feeling better today, but maybe it's just the high from the codeine. And the endless HBO on-demand.
keo - did you hear back from the dr yet? I get so anxious waiting for them sometimes.
btw, I live by Columbia U and see Dr Keltz at St. Lukes. I just switched to him from Cornell. Cornell was great in many ways, but it was a bit factory-like and my Dr there didn't seem concerned with treating my PCOS. I was actually there for about 6 months before I realized that they hadn't even done PCOS b/w on me. My new RE is very thorough, so that's reassuring...
Stef - That's great news about your ob/gyn. Since you aren't going to get a mid-cycle u/s, you might want to try charting to see when you o'd and then schedule the b/w for 7dpo. On Clomid, I typically o'd cd14-18, but some cysters don't o till the mid-20s. CD21 b/w might not give you the best snapshot of your cycle.
Welcome, Robyn. I am so sorry about your m/c. ((hugs))
Relka - Ugh, you must be so frustrated. I'm shocked that it could go from 12mm to less than 1mm so quickly. I thought once they hit 12ish that they were pretty stable. It's like getting punched in the gut. Did your RE recommend anything for the rest of the cycle?
Btw, thanks for the info on shared risk. I think you can tell how lame my cursory search was...
Avenue - I get EWCM several times per cycle and it's always associated with estrogen surges. I typically get it when I O, mid-LP, and right before/during AF. I've never been PG, so I don't know if people get it then too.
EllieAnna - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Laura32 - Rootbeer floats?? Girrrrllllll, me thinks I need to demand one of those from DH when he gets home from work. I haven't had one of those in ages! Mmmmmm...

Doolin, I am so sorry to hear about the scarring in your tubes. Since your ovaries and uterus are in good shape maybe IVF will work right away for you. Are you planning on trying it soon? Does your clinic have good success rates? I am sending you a big hug.
My husband had his sperm analysis done yesterday. he was happy that they actually gave him a room with a sofa and some "inspirational material" . Last time he did a basic test at the hospital and there was no room - he didn't have time to return home so he had to use the coffee shop washroom, poor guy.
happy it is the weekend.....

BFP - Sept 28th/08!
Seeing DR on Oct 10th....
Stef -- My dr said 2 or 1, depending on how much I could tolerate. But she said it didn't really matter. I always did 1 except for the time I did 5 days.
Relka -- that really sucks. I'm so sorry. What's the next step?
Robyn -- welcome! Maybe your dr means the follies from last cycle have turned to cysts. That happens pretty commonly when a cycle has to be cancelled.
Heartcore -- Thalassemia is a pretty variable disease. There are different forms, some can be severe (but you would know by now if you had that form), others are hardly noticed unless you develop anemia. I am not aware that there is a significant link with thalassemia and infertility, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I would think, however, that if your type is mild, it shouldn't have anything to do with it.
Avenue -- sorry, not sure what that would be from...EWCM appears when your estrogen is elevated, which shouldn't happen so late in your cycle (though we're PCOS, can we really predict??).
Ellie -- what day are you? When are you testing??
Doolin -- so glad to hear you're recovering okay. That really sucks about your tubes, but good to know so you won't be wasting time with things that absolutely won't work. Were your tubes open on HSG? I guess even if they're open the fimbria may be scarred so that they can't trap an egg very well when the ovary releases them. Anyway, ((((hugs)))) for the icky tubes. I may be joining you with IVF soon. How soon do you get to start it?
SO, yesterday I had my u/s, and they found several follies, so I'm not sure if this is good or bad. The biggest is 13 mm, and then there are about 3 10's and 3 9's. I'm terrified that they're all going to grow and my cycle will get cancelled. My E2 is 417, so she lowered my dose, and I go back tomorrow to see what's up. I had to cancel a trip to see my sister this weekend b/c of this, and now I'm afraid the whole thing is going to be a bust, even after taking it SO slowly. Anyway, we'll know more tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Doolin - I'm sorry to hear about the scarring on your tubes, but hoping that IVF will do the trick for you.

doolin- i'm glad to hear that the surgery went well. although, i could imagine how overwhelmning it was to hear about your tubes. i hope that IVF works on the first try.
tummy- i hope lowering the dose slows down the growth of the smaller follies. i am so afraid to do injectables b/c of overstimming, but it still seems to be a better choice than clomid for lots of cysters.
i've been pretty depressed, but i see my RE on Monday and i hope we can come up with a good plan. we had a staff retreat today, and i was with a group of women with kids all uner 10 and they were talking about them and it just ripped my heart up.

Tummy- Yeah for the size 13 follie! I'll be praying that this cycle is it for you! Those 9's and even 10's will usually separate out and you'll get a few dominant one's. I think I had about the same amount of follies and size when I got pregnant and only 3 or 4 became mature and now I'm pregnant with one! Also your E2 is good which I know dr. also consider. Stay positive!

Tummy - yea for 13mm! (i'm sending vibes to your follie)
*nursing student* - what is NPC? is it a progesterone? it can take up to 2 weeks i think to work after going off it to get AF
Stef - i was given 1 a day for 7 days.
relka - *hugs*
doolin - i'm sorry about your tubes but it's great that your ovaries and uterus are in such good shape - hope IVF does the trick! also my mom went to teachers college so i'm "down" with the columbia area
my dr's office called today to say that my dr wants me to come back in on CD3 of my next cycle to start clomid and i was like "whoa, hey there now, we weren't planning on starting clomid so fast" i was pretty sure that i told my dr that we would wait about 3 cycles to see how the Met does - i think we got our signals crossed. So the girl asked me to make an appt to discuss with my dr so i'll see her next friday morning.
tomorrow i start 1500mg. I should have started today but DH and i went to a yankees game and i was afraid of s/e.

keo- you might as well start clomid now to see how you respond. how are you doing on met? i just started up again and am having stomach issues on only 500mg. i'm glad it is the weekend and i can stay close to home!
hey relka i'm sorry you're having s/e. i'm actually doing pretty well. stomach is a little difficult but nothing too awful - but i'm starting up on 1500 tomorrow so we'll see.
i think i'm just having a hard time adjusting to the reality that getting pg naturally is probably not for me. even though i've known about the possibility for years now, i don't think i ever truly believed it. And DH is the same (but then again, he's just a boy ). my first baby-step was the Met. And so i keep hoping that "works."

Doolin, glad you're feeling ok. That is crappy, about your tubes, but good news about everything else. Yeah, I highly recommend a root beer float, I had another today!
Keo, if you wouldn't mind being pregnant right now, I say you may as well try Clomid now, in case it doesn't work for you, then you'd know.
Tummy, that's good news about your 13 mm follicle; I'm sure they'll slow the others down.

NPC Ive heard can take that long but since I have regular cycles I dont think that should be the case...Im hoping any day now. When I was on bcp it never took longer then a week but was always longer then a couple days, usually between the 4th and 5th day. So I figure tomoro or the day after, if my theory is right of course
keo- i tried naturally (before met) for about a year, and now it has been 20 months and still no BFP. i am only on cycle 1 of clomid. i wish i has started meds sooner, but my DH really wanted us to try naturally. he is still somewhat in denial. there is always a chance you can get preggo naturally, if you ever O on your own. but really if you don't O regularly the chance are low and you could be waiting years for a natural BFP.
