My Mood: Points: 33,907.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 33,907.13 | Forgot to comment on implants: I haven't ruled them out for when I get saggy, but want to wait until after babies b/c of breastfeeding. Though you can theoretically still b/f with implants, the surgery can damage the nipple ducts. DH isn't crazy about the idea, but he might be when my nips are approaching my belly button

My Mood: Points: 3,393.91 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,393.91 | Hey guys! So many posts to catch up on. Glad to see some new posters - welcome.
Relka, KW - Sorry for your BFNs. I know at least some of the "torture" is over for now, but hopefully your next cycle will be "the one!"
Whitney - I am so sorry to hear abour your sister's BFN. If her embys looked good, how did her lining look (thickness)? I am now obsessed with that.
Pikachu - Since Clomid is anti-estrongenic, is causes uterine lining to become thinner. My current Dr. says Clomid and thin ladies don't work, due to our low fat reserves and low estrogen (especially in my case). Since I am hypo-gonandatrophic and was on BC for so many years, my lining is shot, but hopefully not for long.
As for me, my procedure went well yesterday. I had no pain afterwards (did not even need to take a tylenol), and just minimal spotting. The anethesia is definitely different than what was used for the egg retreivals, since I was very groggy and slept most of the afternoon and was tired at night. Usually with my retreivals, I felt more perky in the afternoon. Today I am still a bit tired, but maybe I am just lazy.
The Dr. said he did remove some thin membranes (? - scarring, I was not sure) from the surface of my uterus and did the ploughing. I am on anti-biotics for 10 days and estrogen shots (every three days) for the next couple of weeks. After that I am on oral progesterone for a few days, and I need to call the Dr. office at my next "period" which should happen a few days after I'm done with the progesterone.
The next step is the mock cycle to see how my lining responds to estrogen. He did say it may take a couple of cycles to get my lining to where it needs to be. No way to know until we get to that point. So I may not get to stimming until September? Seems like forever from now, but obviously I need a working uterus before anything else.
He did say when we do eventually get to stimming, it will be at very low doses ("1/3 of an ampule, 1/2 ampule" etc.) with "estrogen in the background" (since I don't make much) to encourage a moderate reaction to the drugs. If my tubes check out ok (later test) then I probably will not need to do IVF. So I can easily still be in this process until year end. Ug. We shall see.
I know I'll have tons of monitoring, especially if my cycle is long on stimming, which is should be. He said that with PCOSers it is not uncommon to have a 35-42 day cycle compared with the normal 28 day cycle. Don't even want to think about the cost - mock cycle won't be bad since I probably will only have 3-4 monitoring sonos. However, it'll probably be much more when we get to the stimming cycle. Hopefully in the end it will be worth it.

It sucks that we sometimes have to go through so much to get that BFP, but it sure sounds like you have a great RE - your treatments sound personalized to fit you perfectly!

About implants:
Funny story~the lady that cuts my hair called me this morning. She asked me if she could switch my eyebrow appt from next tuesday to next monday because she had to go in for surgery on tuesday. I said sure and asked her what was wrong. She told me her implant deflated and she had to get her boob fixed. All I could do was laugh, I mean what was I supposed to say, "I'm sorry for your loss?" LOL
Still waiting on AF......

Hi everyone,
I am new to all of this, so please forgive me if I am not posting this in the right place! I have some questions, and was hoping someone could help me! My husband and I have been TTC since 11/07. I just started Metformin at 1700mg a day and 50mg Clomid cd 5-9 this cycle. Since I began the met, I feel sick and tired all the time. My doc. says its normal but I think I would feel better knowing that others have had side effects like mine. Is there anything I can do to lessen the headaches and nausea?
Thanks for the advice! |

TXan -- so glad the procedure was a success! The wait does seem long, but hopefully will be well worth it in the end. My sister's lining was something like 9 mm, so looked fine. They had her on baby aspirin and a steroid, too. So no real explanation...

My Mood: Points: 33,907.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 33,907.13 | Babyhopes -- welcome! A lot of ppl swear by vitamin B12 and B6. I tried it and it didn't work for me. The nausea was pretty awful and all I wanted to do was eat carbs, which kind of defeats the purpose. So I stopped. Did you start with 1700 all at once? If so, you should cut back and work up to the full dose over a few weeks. Good luck with Clomid!

My Mood: Points: 2,658.22 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,658.22 | Thanks for the response! I stared at 850mg a day, and doubled to 1700 after about a week and a half. Hope this isnt a ridiculous question, but why does eating carbs "defeat the purpose"? I had a Follicular Ultrasound yesterday, and the Clomid seems to be working. I go back for another on Friday, so I am really hopeful! |

When I started taking it, I took 500 mg/day for the first week, then increased the dose by 500 mg/day each week until I was up to 150 mg. I took one dose with each meal. It seemed to help with the s/e if I spread it out throughout the day rather than taking larger doses all at once. I was not on the extended release formula, though. I'm not sure how it would work with Met ER, if that's what you are taking. It also was helpful to make sure I had eaten something substantial before I took each dose. I was a mess if I took it on an empty stomach. I also tried to avoid high fat meals, as they would give me diarrhea (sorry - TMI!) within 20 minutes of eating. Good luck with the Clomid!

My Mood: Points: 6,835.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,835.63 | Babyhopes, welcome! That is weird, bc you are the only person I've heard that takes it on an empty stomach. When I did that, it made me extremely nauseous. Maybe you could try taking it with just a plain piece of bread or some crackers? I believe you if taking it on a full stomach makes you vomit, but seriously, I think you should experiment with trying to take it in conjunction with SOMETHING else, maybe a small cup of chicken broth? That really helped me. I think what Tummy meant by eating excess carbs defeating the purpose, is that a lot of PCOS ladies have some level of insulin resistance, and it's recommended that we try a low carb diet, like South Beach, and also that Met is supposed to help curtail the weight gain that can come with PCOS, but if you're eating three bags of Ruffles a day... good luck, hope you sort it out, and hope the clomid gives you your BFP.
Txan, wow! Glad you feel OK, and it wasn't ouchy.
Hello to everyone else.
AFM, nothing going on. I have a really bad sore throat, so I've been lying around all day long, and my house is a wreck, and I feel bad about it, but not bad enough to get up and clean it.

i have however been constipted since 2 days before taking then.....yeh thats a while now!
other than that, i still have much of what i had after last O.except now the pain on the right side gets terribly painful during BDing.

HOWEVER, I did get two nice follies every cycle on it, so here's hoping you get some nice plump ones!

Laura - feel better and don't you dare feel guilty about the house. Just shut the shades and dim the lights. Then the house won't seem so messy.
Babyhopes - empty stomach?? Yowza. I'm at 1500 mg now, but started at 1000mg. I thought I was going to die for the first week of 1000mg. The 500mg step-up only hurt for about a day or two. Like Whitney (Tummy), my carb cravings have increased on it; I think it's b/c my go-to comfort foods are carb-laden. [shrugs] I should probably try to curb that, but ... I am really lazy and have no will-power.
Heartcore - "Sorry for your loss." LOL
