Default Thin Cysters TTC or Pregnant?

Hi All,

I had a few questions for thin cysters who are either TTC or have gotten pregnant. Is it really true that thin cysters have a harder time getting pregnant than obese ones?

Also, if you are TTC or have been pregnant...what did you try and what worked and how long did it take?

Also, if you have the string of pearl ovaries...does that mean you won't be able to get pregnant? What can you do to get rid of them? Does met help? What is the optimal dosage of met?

I haven't heard that it is harder for thin cysters.

I am TTC, but this is my first month. I used Clomid 100mg. The follicles and lining were smaller than they wanted on the US, but we are still waiting to see if it worked or not.

I haven't heard of the string of pearl ovaries... so I have nothing for you there.

Hi, I just started TTC and I have the string of pearls on my ovaries. That's about my only symptom besides irregular periods. Since I've just started TTC and haven't gone on any meds yet (I appear to ovulate on my own each month from the looks of my bbt charts, so I wanted to try the natural route at least for a few months), I may not be of much help, but my dr. did tell me that she's found that thin women with PCOS tend to respond well to Clomid. She said they give it to people for 6 cycles b/c if it doesn't work after 6 cycles, it probably won't work...they'll have to try something else.
I didn't ask her about Metformin b/c she made it sound like that's only for women with IR, but from all of the info I've found and other posts I've read, I'd be interested in learning if that might work for thin non-IR people, too...especially if it is true that I ovulate on my own. Hope this helps!

I have heard that thin cycters have a harder time with clomid. My dr has me on femera. She says that it doesn't thin out the lining in your uterus like clomid somethimes does, and I have heard a lot of good things about it. This is my second month on it and last month I did O! I keep telling my husband it was his fault, his little swimmers didn't do what they were supposed too. I take 2.5mg cd 3-7. My dr didn't put me on met because I am not IR, however, I have read that a lot of thin non ir cycters are on it.

Sheera, if you Ovulate on femara without met that's awesome..u don't need it..i hate the nasty side affects it has..i started taking it on my own but my RE doesnt think I need it..I am also starting Femara today 5mg a day from 3-7. Hope I ovulate. Since you ovulated on just 2.5mg without met, I hope you get your bfp this cycle!!!

wantababy~Thanks, I hope I get my bfp this month! I was getting regular periods before and usually my cycles lasted between 32-36 days. Last cycle was only 30 days, so I think it regulated me a little. Good luck this month, and hope you get your BFP!

I was diagnosed 6 years ago. I have the classic string of pearls and no period. I have been pregnant twice on 100 mg of Clomid. I have 2 beautiful boys thanks to clomid. Right now I am taking the herb vitex in liquid form. I take it 3 times a day. I have been taking it for 15 months now and have had 9 periods on it an ovulated all 9 times. My husband is in the military and gone right now but we will be trying to conceive using vitex when he gets back in March. I had no bad side effects with clomid, but would just like to try naturally this time.

I got pregnant on the first round of 100mg with both of my kids. However with my 1st pregnancy it took 4 years to get to that point. No I have never taken Met. I am not IR so the docs never put me on it.

Default Met side effects

Hi,
I was just curious what side effects metformin has had on you? I just started about a month ago and am miserable. I am not IR, but doc put me on it in hopes it would induce O. I am lethargic, thristy, and nauseated most all of the time. We are trying the met before we start clomid.

I have the string of pearls on my ovaries and I still ovulate on my own occasionally. I was always told by doctors that I would have a harder time having a baby than most people, even before being diagnosed with PCOS. I started trying the first time in 2005 and repeat miscarriages ended up tearing my relationship apart. I found out later that one of the major factors in the miscarriages was the fact that the father had rh+ blood. Now I am pregnant again, and have gone further than most of my past pregnancies and the father has RH- blood just like me (same exact blood type) so
I have a lot of hope. We haven't been using any kind of birth control for about 6 months, but we didnt start actively trying till december. So its not always super difficult. Sometimes thinner cysters have a harder time STAYING preggers than GETTIN preggers

Hello! Just thought I would post on the positive side. You can see what worked for me in my sig. I am thin (about 5'5", 128lbs) and probably do ovulate on my own, but very irregularly. My unmedicated cycles are very long. I've never been tested for IR, but I suspect that I may be. I did 3 rounds of clomid with my regular ob/gyn, all BFN, before seeing an RE and being diagnosed with PCOS. I do have the string of pearls. Got my BFP the first cycle with the RE on clomid, Met, and Synthroid (+IUI). I am still on the Synthroid, stayed on Met through the 1st trimester and I am still nursing my beautiful, almost 10 month old baby girl.

Baby dust to you all!

My fertility doctor that I just saw this week didn't recommend Metformin because I'm having 30 day cycles, wants us to just try naturally for 2 mos...do you know why they put you on Met if you weren't insulin resistant? I don't want to waste time at my age.
