My Mood: Points: 6,284.25 Bank: 34,929.79 Total Points: 41,214.04 | thin cysters, weight loss, and regulating periods. . . So I recently fired my acupuncturist, not because of the therapy, but because of the way they did billing.
I did feel the acupuncture was helping, and when I quit my cycles were normal-length.
I've been working out (weights and running, three/four times a week), and I've lost a lot of weight (10-15 pounds, the only noticable difference is I've lost some tummy fat - finally!). I'm 135 lbs now, (5'7") so I'm at a healthy BMI and I'm not really looking to lose more weight.
Did intense exercise help regulate your periods much? I'm really concerned because I don't want my cycles to go all funky again, and I can't afford to see another acupuncturist, especially if they screw over their patients with their billing process.
I guess I'm hoping that if I keep exercising (I've always eaten fairly healthy), it will maintain my cycles without having to go back to acupuncture. I might lose a little more weight, but I don't think I really want to go any thinner - my bra size has already changed in a month from a 38B to a 36C! I know it's a sister size but the 36C just fits so much better.
Does anyone have any experiences they could share or insights on being a thin cyster and regulating periods through exercise?

My Mood: Points: 29,341.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 29,341.81 | For me, exercise didn't help with regulating my period. I've always exercised and eaten healthy foods, and always been irregular. And I've done really heavy exercise (like 6 days a week, 2 hours a day, running 60 minutes at 7 on the treadmill, then weights) and I've also done lighter exercise routines (more core classes and brisk walking on the treadmill) and it didn't make a difference for me.

For me, eating lower carb and Metformin has helped regulate my period. (Makes me lose weight too, but I still am able to get pregnant anyway). I do think exercise can help, but it didn't necessarily "cure" it for me. |

My Mood: Points: 15,482.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 15,482.81 | I don't think exercise had any effect for me one way or another. My periods were wonky when I started them at 13; regular only when I was on the pill, and wonky again when I went off BCP. I was not exercising regularly at 13 or in high school, but when I went off the pill to TTC, was running and doing strength training 3-5 days per week, and I didn't have regular cycles.

My Mood: Points: 33,985.04 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 33,985.04 | Same here... I was super skinny from ballet in college and my cycles were crazy. Now I still work out regularly and am at my ideal weight for me, but still no AF. Of course maybe since you got on track from the accupuncture you will stay regulated... I haven't been "regular" in 9 years! Met also didn't help for me...

I also take metformin and I think that has helped as well.
