Thanks Amy!

I guess I can join your thread now...it's so exciting.

I have some questions for you "experienced" girls:
When did you start to show (if you have)?
When did your pants get tight?
When did morning sickness set in?
What have you changed about your diet?

Hope everyone if feeling great!

Hey!
I started to show with my DD at 11-12 weeks (looked thicker thru mid section), and with this one it was around 9 weeks. Most of my pants sit low ( not super low) on my waist, so my belly hangs over them. I had to invest in new maternity clothes about a month ago. I think it just depends on your body and how much weight you gain. With my DD I gained 75 pounds!!!! Yes, you read it right. I loved cake and chetoes. LOL! I was out of my regular colthes within a month. With this pregnancy, I have only gained 3 1/2 pounds so I was able to wear my regular clothes for almost all of my first trimester.

Unlike my previous pregnancy, I have learned that you really are not eating for two! I used my past pregnancy to do and eat when and what I wanted. This time around, I am eating like I was when I was TTC. You really only need an additional 400-500 calories in the second and third trimester if you are carring one baby. So far, I have not needed to change what I eat. With my DD I was a fanatic about not drinking caffine or taking medacine and she turned out with several major heart defects. So this time around, I do allow myself a diet coke or two a day.

As far as moring sickness, It is different for everyone. With my DD I was sick before a test would come out positive. With this pregnancy, I was not sick for several weeks into it and then It was so bad I lost several pounds, it finally subsided around 12 1/2 -13 weeks.

Everyone is so different. I am sure AMF will have some goodies to share.

I hope all is well with all of you!

hi guys!

Mrs.M welcome to the board!!!!! I am so happy for you...ask away!

This is my first pregnancy so I was showing naked much sooner then with clothes! lol....of course, I am also having twins, so maybe I am an exception. I had to buy maternity pants at 6 weeks, b/c I was so uncomfortable in my regular pants even with an hair elastic expanding the button. I tried the BellaBand which is like tube top that you wear over unbuttoned pants and found that to be uncomfortable too. I am now in my 15th week and I look pregnant to strangers. Dh and I notice at about 9 weeks a growing bump and I took pics that I sent to my parents who also saw it. No one else would have noticed. My breasts grew a cup size right away and were soooooo sore until 10 weeks, and now my nipples tingle, but the soreness is gone. Morning/all-day sickness started at 5 1/2 weeks and stopped 10 weeks just like that! I still get heartburn and that started at 5 weeks, probably so early b/c its twins.

I always kept a healthy diet, but when I was nauseous I ate whatever worked. Some things I used to eat regularly grossed me out and I just avoided them until about 2wks ago.....(chicken, cereal, cooked veggies). I craved cheese sandwiches with mustard, I just ate low-fat cheese and ww bread. I have been loving anything potato, just trying to stick with baked not fried. I had some problems eating protein at first so I ate a lot of low fat cheese, peanut butter, protein-enriched pasta. I have been a lot of fruit and salad, because other veggies give me gas. I have to go, but please feel free to ask anything.....I will be on the boards tomorrow!

sorry I ran out of time last night.....

Amy- just wanted to update you since I was off the boards for 5 days.....my parents were here and we had a great time. We went shopping for maternity stuff and I got some new pants and tops to add to my collection. We shopped for a bathing suit since the cruise is 3 weeks away...no luck! I went to pea in the pod, and while everything was so cute, it was not made for ladies with boobies! We laughed so hard at some of the suits, they were obscene; not a good look with boobs popping out, I was like a playboy special! lol! I am going over to my friends house this weekend and she says she has suits, I just hope they work....To very well-meaning cousins also lent me suits to try, and while they thought they had big pregnant boobs, the suits were no match for my gals! I guess if you start of small and get big preggo boobs you think well, yeah, but I started off with big boobs, and now they are big pregnant boobs! Moving on.....

My appetite has moved into high-gear, and thankfully nothing is making me sick at all!!! I am just trying to keep with these demanding little ones. They must really be growing, b/c I am showing big time. I've got myself a baby bump, finally! I haven't been craving anything weird, just enjoying things I couldn't before and eating the same old too. Actually, I am off to the grocery store very soon. I still walk up those aisles not sure what I want. I never know what I will eat in advance sometimes it just hits me. Does this happen to you? How do you plan a dinner for your family? Since it is still tax season dh gets dinner at work, so he isn't a slave to me yet. ha!
Tell me how you are feeling and anything else that is new........

AMF,
I am so glad you had a great visit with your parents and got to do some fun shopping. I am doing okay. I feel like there is always something. I have had VERY low oxygen sats (74-85%) since I have been pregnant so my OB has been keeping an extra eye on me every week. I had to have a CT scan with contrast on wednesday and yestarday I was admited into the hospital for a few heart procedures. I was put to sleep durring the procedures yestarday so I am still feeling the efects of the meds. I am really worried about the damage I might have done to the baby by having the CT scan. I guess my DR's thought the benifits out weighed the risk.

On a lighter note, I am big time showing. My SIL is almost 20 weeks and my tummy is bigger than hers! I was very shocked. I am going to be huge by mid September.

Well, I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Amy - how are you feeling? I have been thinking of you. How did you know that your oxygen levels are so low? do you have them tested a lot? are these heart issues b/c of this pregnancy?

Please let me know how you are doing when you feel up to it!

Hey!

I am short of breath all the time so my DR started taking my o2 sats and thats how this whole mess started.

I started having minor heart issues after my DD was born. I was put on some medication and all was fine. I think that the DR's assumed it was my heart because of my past issues. Anyway, I feel about the same. I dont feel bad, I feel like I weigh 5000 pounds. My husband jokes with me about how out of shape I am because I am always huffing and puffing. It is pretty funny.

How are you? Did you have a good weekend?

Amy- how are you feeling today?

I am doing well. Getting bigger everyday, and I promise I will post pics this weekend. The very least I can do for you is make you feel like a thinner preggie lady!

Very happy that this tax season is days away from coming to a close! Next Friday we leave for our cruise. can't wait, especially b/c the weather here is crazy! It is in the 30s and sleeting today, and it APRIL!!! But that's New England for ya...

Have you told your DD she is going to be a big sister? Does she understand it?

Take care!

AMF,
Hey! How are you feeling? When is your next u/s? It seems like it is coming up soon. Are you finish weaning off your med? Anything new going on? Is your m/s all gone?

Things are going good for me. I started feeling movement last week. I can't wait untill we feel kicks. I did'nt feel any movement with my DD, I did'nt know what to be looking out for. My husband and I were able to feel strong thumps at 18w 3days. So, hopefully it will happen around the same time. I bet you and your husband will be able to feel something very soon with two swimmers.

Anyway, hope all is well.

trisha- CONGRATS!!!!!
Of course you can join! Did you find out today? Have you been to the obgyn? how do you feel?

Amy- I have one more week of everyother day on zoloft and then I am done....first time med free since may 2000! feeling good. We took new pics I might have to send them regular email, dh hasn't had the time to figure out how to post to the site. m/s has been done for several weeks now, but I still get heartburn, guessing that won't really go away. It isn't as bad as it was early on, and some days are worse then others. I think the only flutters I am feeling are gas, lol, but I am hoping in the next week or 2 I will feel something. I have felt for the past 2-3 days this sensation like I am expanding, which of courseI am, but almost like in those garbage commercial where they show the fist streching the garbage bag, that is what my belly feels like....weird feeling!

take care!

Yep, found out this morning and just got back from taking a blood test. Should get the results this afternoon, but I took three tests and 2 different brands, so feel pretty confident (although still shocked!)

I feel fine, but I have been feeling sick the last week or so. One night last week, I thought I had the flu. Since then it hasn't been too bad, I just assumed it was from the Met.

I'm sure you will feel those movements soon... those first movements can feel just like gas bubbles, so maybe you are already feeling it. Then one day, they'll haul out and kick you and you'll know for sure!!!
