| Heidi--I don't think you should worry too much about the weight thing. It sounds like you are gaining weight and everything is going fine. Maybe he just wants to make sure you are aware of weight gain and that you shouldn't be holding anything back! I actually started out weighing less than my doctor would like and he said that he thought I should gain 35-40 pounds, but so far I've only gained 18 and he seems fine with it--the baby's growing fine, so that's the most important part. He did say that if ever there's a time for me to 'indulge' it's now, though, and I'm trying, I just don't like to eat a lot of high calorie, junky food.
About the vaccinations--I'm going to ask my husband his thoughts on them. I know he's pro-vaccine, I just want to see what his 'expert medical opinion' is on the subject, to maybe get a few more facts from the medical side of things. I'll report back to y'all on what he says. I just don't get it--I've been reading the thread on the Mommy board about vaxing/delaying, and all these moms are coming up with their own schedules for vaxing or not vaxing at all, often sounding like it's against what their ped thinks. I know doctors don't know everything and can be wrong, and new info can be presented, but it just seems to me that most peds would be fairly up-to-date on the whole issue and don't just blindly offer vaccines, so all these moms who have read things online (or something like Jenny McCarthy's stuff) and think they know more than a doctor, it just kinda scares me. Yes, doctors make a living from seeing patients, but they aren't out to steal your money and hurt your children, which is what some of these mothers are implying.
Aturn--you're not on bed rest, though, right? You just left working early so you can rest...must be so nice!
Bobbysgirl--yeah for being released! I love that term, for some reason--being released...it makes me think of a wild animal being set free back into the wild. As for big babies...I asked my doctor if there was any way to guess how big the baby might be, and he said a good way to guess would be to take the mom's weight at birth and the dad's weight at birth and go in between the two. I don't know how accurate that actually is. I guess I'll find out soon enough!
Jen--aweeeee....I'm so happy that you're so happy to be a mom! It makes me happy!
I must look really big today. So many people at work have commented on it. I think I've popped a lot this week, plus I've decided to embrace my inner belly and let it all hang out. I went into the bathroom and actually startled myself at how big I looked!

| sheepie - Let us know what you DH thinks, I'm curious to! No, I'm not on bedrest yet. My doctor wanted me to go to partime at 30-31 weeks, and after reviewing my options with the HR dept. it made more sense for me to just go on leave using short term disability. So I am just enjoying myself, and taking it easy until the girls show up. I LOL'd when you were startled by how big your belly was in the mirror! I had the same reaction to pictures of me from the showers two weekends ago, I even had to ask DH, "Is this really how big I look?" I had a totally different idea of how I looked. Hee Hee.
hsuter - Your husband is a riot! Enjoy the Hungrey Man Meal!!! I have the same problem of gaining weight, when I started seeing my RE I weighted just under 110 lbs (at 5'7) and he told me he wanted me put on 20 lbs, I was like "What?!?!" Even after 9 months of trying and putting on weight, I got to 119 lbs! That's a 1 lb a month! I ate icecream twice a day to get there, I spent $15 a week on the stuff! Some of us have that problem, so I totally understand!

| I have a question for all you ladies who are on progesterone or were on it. Did you have your progesterone tested to make sure it was at a normal range before and after stopping the prog.? I'm just curious if I stop the prog. in the beginning of my 2nd trimester how I know that my body is producing enough on it's own? If I still have a cyst can I assume that is producing progesterone? Also can the prog. I'm taking be causing the cyst to continue to hang around? Sorry for all the questions but when I look it up online I find lots of scary things that have nothing to do with my question.
bobbysgirl- I'm glad your appt went well and you have been released!! When is your next appt? I can't wait to see the pic of your baby.
Auturn- Are you enjoying being at home? I'm sure it is nice!
hsuter- I'm glad your appt. went well.
Jen- You sound like a great mom already! I'm sure you are enjoying your baby girl!
As for the vacs I haven't even looked in to it to know when to get them done. I would probably go with what the dr. recommended. Does Jenny McCarthy think that her son has autism b/c of vacs?

| wantsababy--I wasn't on progesterone, so I don't know! I made them test me (had to get special permission) and it was 17.8, so I didn't supplement.
Yep--Jenny McCarthy thinks the vacs caused her son's autism. She's been very vocal about it, which I think is fine, but she's no more of an expert on it than any other regular person, so I just hate how celebrities can voice their opinions and people listen so much to them. She also thinks that her son was cured by his diet, which might be true for them, but plenty of other people have tried it and not had success...

Good enough for me because I hated how messy the prometrium was. Bleh! So anyway, I'm assuming that at this point my body has taken over and the risk of miscarriage is way less. By the way, I've learned from another board not to read too much stuff or you will freak yourself out. There's only so much that we can control with our pregnancies and it's not good for you or your baby to worry too much.

| I personally do think Jenny McCarthy is more of an expert on vacs then "just any other regular person" because she has dedicated her life researching and speaking to many different doctors and different kinds of doctors to get her info. And she knows a lot about autism since she is living it. I am not saying that she knows more about vacs then doctors, just that she is not spitting out info she saw on a website or something. She definitely knows more than I do and what I think most people do. I am doing my own research and will be delaying vacs but that is my personal choice. Sorry about the rant.
Wants...Sorry I don't know much about progesterone but if you are worried I would ask your doc to check it after you are off it to make sure you have enough.
Sheepie...I am curious to know what your DH thinks about the vacs. I like to get opinions and info from everyone.
Aturn...Yay for leave! Enjoy yourself and don't nest too hard! lol
Not much going on here. Just happy it is Friday and this weekend is going to be in the upper 80's! Finally! My brother and SIL are coming out next Thursday for a couple days so I can't wait for that. I miss being around family so much! Have a great day everyone!

| I didn't mean that Jenny McCarthy only knows as much as a regular person without autism experience. I meant that she's just a regular person who has done research on it (meaning not a doctor or anything). I just don't like how a lot of people out there blindly follow celebrities (like in politics and stuff). Not saying that the celebrities aren't smart or haven't done research on whatever topic they're discussing, but who really knows the actual extent of their knowledge on a subject--and they can make it sound like they are more 'expert' than they actually are.

| Sheepie - I totally agree with you. You can do all the research in the world on the internet and talking with people, but that doesn't make you the expert. Experts consists of physicians and scientist that have been college educated with the background science and then gone out and researched it themselves. I'm not saying they know it all, b/c they are just people to. Autism isn't something that has just started sprouting up, it's been around for a long time, it just didn't have a name. Prior to the 1960s it was just classified as a "mental illiness", so who knows how many people have been suffering from it. I just am not going to jump onto one side of the fence saying for sure it the vaccines when there isn't enough research out there to say it, and from what I've read the vaccines are not it and it is having a lot to do with certien genetic conditions. Alright, that's all I'm going to say.

| I agree that people shouldn't follow what a celerity says just because they are a celebrity. Most doctors know there stuff and don't want to hurt anyone, but I don't think it is a bad thing to listen to what other people have to say about issues. Also, I think it's good for people to inform themselves as much as possible through many different ways. We don't have to listen to everything other moms or other regular people say but it doesn't hurt to hear them out....if one is interested in doing so.

| Hey guys!! I'm back from Aruba and trying to catch up on all your posts.
Mnstrpc - Congrats on your DD!! Your post made me tear up, it was perfect timing, I've had really bad m/s and it's been hard for me to enjoy this pregnancy. Thanks.
Flooow - I haven't gone back far enough to see your posts, did you deliver?? How are you??
Refrain - I'm so sorry about the anemia and glucose. I've had anemia for years and I understand the horrible tired feeling that it creates. Don't worry about your little ones, they have an amazing way of taking everything they need from you to survive. I hope the docs are able to solve this problem for you. I take an iron supplement that's usually prescribed for kids cause I find it's easier on my system, it's liquid and works really well. I think liquid works better in general.
Bobbysgirl, wantsababy, hsuter and evyn - your ultrasound pics are super cute and I hope everything is going well for you!
My trip was nice, but not very relaxing. I was incredibly sick the entire time and found it very hard to hide my pregnancy. I was tired all the time and unable to really enjoy myself, but Aruba is beautiful and the wedding was amazing. I had some brown spotting two days ago that lasted a few hours, I completely freaked out and need to ask my doctor what it was. TMI - do you think that orgasms can affect anything? It's the only thing that I can think of that might have caused it.
About vaccinations, the only one I'm nervous about is the MMR. My two best friends have both waited until 1 year to make a decision cause both of their doctors told them it's not a rush. I have no idea what I'm going to do, I haven't done any research though so I guess I'll figured it out once I know more about it. I've also read that genetics play a huge role as well. The vaccine might trigger a genetic link.
I hope you're all doing well, sorry this post is so long! I missed you girls!

| wantsababy--at this point in your pregnancy, the cyst is not responsible for producing progesterone anymore, your placenta has taken over that role. most doctors will tell you to stop at 12 weeks but if you're uncomfortable, call and ask them for more information. i've heard of some ladies decreasing the dose and weaning off it instead of just stopping.
Amy--glad to hear that your trip was nice, but i'm sorry you have been so sick. are you just nauseas or are you throwing up a lot? you might want to talk to your doctor if you are throwing up several times a day or are having trouble keeping food and water down. they can prescribe something for you. i've also heard they can prescribe a prenatal vitamin called Premesis that has added B6 and calcium carbonate, it has helped many women with their battle against nausea. personally, i started throwing up once every morning and i'm just dealing with it for now because i feel okay the rest of the day.
as far as vaccinations go, i'm on the fence. i'm at the point where i'm open to delaying and splitting up the MMR, but still planning on doing all to most of the vax because "community immunity" is not what it used to be when so many people are deciding against vaccinations. also, vaccines are not 100% effective, but i feel we need to make the decision that we feel is best for our children. for me, it's getting more information before changing the doctor's schedule for my child.

| So I asked my husband what he thought about vaccines, and all he said was he's pro vaccine. Thanks a lot! I was wanting specifics of why it's good versus delaying or not getting or whatever. I was hoping for a more enlightening answer! He DID just get off his over night shift, so maybe after a nap he'll be more ready to discuss! The MMR is one that seems like it's one of the most important to get, though, since measles seems to be popping up around the country a lot these days...
Amy--welcome back! Sorry your trip wasn't as magical as you had hoped. I don't think orgasm can cause spotting, but I know sex can--I guess your cervix can be more sensitive at this point and sex can aggravate it and cause spotting, so that could be what it is.

| Rose- I'm sorry you didn't feel well on your trip to Aruba but at least it was for a good reason. Like Shell mentioned about the Premsis prenatal vitamin, I'm on that prescribed by my OB and I haven't had ms. Not sure if it is related or not. My nurse told me that vaginal exams and sex can definitely cause some bleeding and as long as it is minimal it is ok. So maybe also o's.
Shell- Thanks for the info. I knew the placenta took over progesterone at some point but wasn't sure exactly when. I just need to not worry about it and trust if my dr. wants me off of it in the 2nd trimester than I will just go with that. Are you still on progesterone?
Sheepie- Let us know what your dh says about more info. on vaccines. I may have missed this but I'm assuming he is in the medical field, is he a dr?
Where is flow?
I hope all you ladies have a good weekend!

| wantsababy--yep, my husband's a doctor. A new one, but still a full fledged dr! He's in his residency for urology. So not that he has any first hand knowledge of vaccines or anything, but just his general info from med school I would think would help shape his thoughts on things like this.
