I'm very curious about nipple changes, when does that start?
I haven't really noticed any changes in my body yet.

Refrain: I'm sorry your Dr is breaking up with you, but glad she is not too proud to send you to someone else for help with you anemia, etc.

Rose: My nipples have changed a little, but at this stage it seems to go in "spurts". Some days they remind me of puberty and other days they seem normal. However, (this is TMI) they have been itching like crazy lately even with my using body oil, etc. Maybe that means I need a bigger bra size - -they are getting a little tight anyway.

Oh girls....my boobs have changed a ton! I feel like any weight that I HAVE gained is in my boobs. They are much more perky and FULL now. Im pretty small chested so they feel heavy all the time. Also--my nipples stay hard and dry. Im constantly rubbing lotion of some sort on them. They don't itch or anything..the skin itself is just flaky. Its so weird.

Refrain--Im glad you are seeing a specialist! Maybe they can give you answers on your anemia.

Aturn--I need a lesson in water drinking. I like it, I always have, but I can't drink that much of it! How do you do it?? Do you drink bottles, or tap?

Question--------is it normal to have ovary pain while you are pregnant?? My left ovary seems to be aching, it has been since yesterday. Is this worth a call to the doctor, or is it possible its just the babys position?

Evyn - you're ovaries move up with your uterus, so what you think is ovary pain is probably your uterus or the ligaments around it. I think my ovaries are up in my armpits by now! j/k

Rose- Mine haven't really changed in volume yet, I was and still am a full C, but my areolas has enlarged and the skin around them is tinted darker. At about week 18-21 I had small bits of colostrum leakage (dry crusty stuff) but that has stopped. Now my nipples them selves are getting larger and there is a circle of light colored skin at their base (newly formed skin)..Its weird looking. I can tell when they're growing b/c they itch like mad!

Refrain---would a round ligament just ache though? Even when Im just sitting here? I don't really feel like anything is "wrong", but its a definate aching going on there....not a pulling pain or anything, just a dull ache.

It was hard for me to hear this, so it may be for you too. I'm sure your ok. Right now I have this massive ache on my right side, turns out, it's my baby boys butt pushing out. I can feel his little bottom through my skin.
There is so many changes and fluid shifts going on in your abdomen, I'd just wait it out. If it's not gone by tomorrow, and you're truly worried, call the doc. But my guess is that its sore muscles, skin, ligaments, tendons et. al. (or a trapped gas bubble )

Evyn--I've had the aching before. I think it's just things either stretching or growing. If it'd make you feel better, you could always call your doctor. That's what they're there for!

Water drinking: I HATE water. Okay, I don't really hate it, but I'm not a water drinker. It's been SO hard for me to up my intake of water. At work I have one of those red keg cups and my goal every day is to drink at least 3 of them, plus 2 more glasses of water when I get home from work. It's been hard. Before being pg, I would drink MAYBE one of those keg cups a day, more often less. So I actually have to consciously remind myself to drink. But it helps with the amount of amniotic fluid, which is important, and if you are dehydrated you can get contractions, so staying properly hydrated is important for that. It's gotten a little easier to get it down, but it's been one of the worst parts of pregnancy for me! I just try and stop drinking water around 8pm so I'm not up a million times each night (only half a million).

Refrain--did your doc say it's not you, it's me? Just think of it that you're going to be getting the best care by a doctor who knows a lot more about what you might be going through. I'd rather know my doctor is a specialist and never actually have a need for it, than a regular doctor who doesn't know or feel comfortable with what you're going through.

My bbs are HUGE now too. Finally my belly is catching up so they don't look quite as big, but for a while there, I SWEAR that's where all my weight was gained.

I had my 32 week appt today. I go again in 2 weeks, then after that it's every week! Yikes! So all went well today. It was actually my first appt this whole pregnancy that I haven't gotten an ultrasound. It was weird! But my BP was good (106/66), no swelling, baby is head down!!! Finally!! and he said that I am all baby and no excess weight (I know for a fact I have a LITTLE excess weight, but it sounded good to me!). And I was happy because I was nervous that I wasn't gaining enough weight and hadn't gained any since I was 27 weeks, but I've been shoving food in (making me uncomfortably full!) but I managed to gain 3 pounds in 2 weeks. I don't know if I can keep up that style of eating. It just makes me feel gross. But now I've passed the 20 pound mark, so I'm happy with that.

So annoying. There are 4 of us at my company who all have the same job. None is higher up than anyone else. There's this one guy who keeps sending out 'official' protocol emails telling us information. It's like he's trying to be in charge. It makes me not even want to read the emails. Just because he's like 60 years old doesn't mean he's the boss of me!! And the annoying part is, he makes a big deal about things, whereas someone tells me info and I accept it and absorb it and use it, and he has to go all crazy with the same info and act like he's the only one who knows and has to let us all know about it.

Glad to hear Tylenol is ok. I had another short night last night so I may need it before today is over!

Aturnbg – Glad your appt went well and you’re doing good with your water intake!

CaliGirl – Interesting that everyone thinks it’s a boy because you’re carrying low. I was always told girls were low and boys were high. I think it’s really a matter of how your body works though, not the baby’s sex. Yay for the fun shower! And I’m glad your hospital tour included not just the scary labor part but the amazing birth part too. On my first night of birthing classes we watched a video of women in labor. On the way to the car I told DH “I can’t do this. There’s gotta be an easier way. Can I just ask for a c/s right now?!” As it turned out, I did both – labor *and* a c/s. Labor isn’t easy, but it’s totally doable. You’ll do great!

Hsuter – I like the name David. I think using the middle name is a good compromise. Although I understand Trish’s point about the trickiness of having both a legal and a common name... It’s like there’s no easy answer.

Refrain – LOL at the nipple issue. I feel your pain! I remember seeing my sister’s nipples when she was pg a few years before me and I thought OMG what the he!! happened to your boobs!?! It really is weird, isn’t it? Just wait till the lactation ladies start referring to them as "targets"! lol Sorry your dr broke up with you. I’m glad you’ll be getting good care with a specialist though. Keep those babies healthy!

Rose – My boobs started changing around 6-8 weeks. My nipples are always hard now and the areolas are getting larger. My boobs are getting larger too, but I can still fit in my normal bras. Last time I had to go up a band size because my rib cage expanded and I switched from padded to stretchy cups so they could “grow with me.”

Evyn – I’ve been having “ovary” pain lately too. When I was in for my u/s I asked the dr to check my ovaries to see if there were any cysts there and they looked fine, so I’m guessing it’s just stretching like other people have said.

Sheepie – I like water ok, but I can’t stand it during the 1st tri. It feels like I have to force myself to drink 1-2 bottles a day. I get down about 48oz of fluids a day, but most of it has to be flavored. Glad your appt went well and baby is head down! Sorry your coworker is on such a power-trip. That would drive me nuts too!

I think I overdid it again last night. I should know better but it’s so hard to slow down, you know? I met up with DS’s playgroup at the mall after work. We grabbed a bite at the food court and then played in this little play area. I’d decided not to bring DS’s stroller in because I figured it’d be easier to let him walk in and then we could just take the escalator.

It was a good plan at first…But once the play area got too busy with bigger kids, my mom friends thought it’d be more fun to stroll the mall. I should have just skipped the walk but I went along anyway, trying desperately to get my toddler to hold my hand until he pulled the “I’m just going to lay down in the middle of the floor” routine. After that it was a constant struggle of slow down, catch up, go this way, no we’re not getting candy, etc etc etc. It wasn’t all bad – it was cute to watch him display his independence and make an effort to be a big boy. The funniest part was when he stopped in the doorway of Abercrombie and danced for a good 5 minutes. I was laughing so hard and he definitely got a lot of attention. (luckily my mom friends were busy in Pottery Barn Kids at the time.) But by the time we’d walked the mall (in heels no less and often stopping to pick up a distracted toddler) I was exhausted and I felt awful!

I felt a little better when I got home but I ended up making it a late night anyway, taking care of some phone calls, putting DS to bed late, and of course I had to watch the Biggest Loser finale! Today it seems the baby’s letting me know it’s not happy with me. My m/s came back this morning and I have just a general crappy feeling all over. When will I learn?

Sheepie - Did you see Dr.Oz on oprah recently? He looked at recent studies regarding water intake and whether it's really true that we need to drink so much water and found that we don't need to drink anywhere near the amount that people think. The reason is that food contains so much water and if you eat a healthy diet you don't need to drink so much. I can't remember the exact amount he recommended but I remember being really shocked at how little it was. I'm sure pregnant women need to drink plenty of fluids but I wouldn't stress about drinking massive amounts of it. ALSO, recent studies show that pregnant women don't need to gain as much weight as people used to think, something to look into, I read that in the paper. Glad your appointment went well! Sorry about work, I guess we all have that one annoying person in the workplace, mine happens to be my boss

Thanks to everyone who gave me a detailed report on their boob status, I love to hear about body changes.

I'm feeling much better these days, m/s has really gone down. Of course now I'm wondering if things are ok cause I'm crazy. It's also nice to know that the baby looks more like a human these days and not so much like a sea monkey.

Amy--I haven't seen Oprah in forever! I guess I could DVR it, though. But I've heard those reports about water--about not needing as much. And normally in real life I wouldn't worry about it, but being pg I think it matters a little more to get more liquids in. As for the weight, I'm kind of just going with the flow, but of course I read something in one of my pregnancy books that was talking about not gaining enough weight and how it can affect, and even kill, the fetus, and that at my weeks I should have gained I think something like 27 pounds, and I was at 18, so I was starting to freak out that I was starving my baby! Plus everyone around me telling me how I'm too small to be this far along. But I'm better now

just wanted to chime in on the boob and weight issues...

my boobs are just plain weird now, i'm reading all of your descriptions and it seems i have a little of everything: flaky nipples, plus they stick out but the areolas are getting bigger and darker (sometimes when i get out of the shower i have to run in the bedroom and show DH how weird my nipples look!), my nipples are always tender, and my boobs are fuller and harder, but i'm still wearing my same bras.

as far as weight gain, my Dr's office generally recommends 30 lbs overall, so we'll see how i do. so far i've lost 2.5 lbs.

Well boob wise i have been lucky lol. When I got pregnant I was an A wearing B for the extra padding I am now a large C! My nipples haven't changed or got dry at all just bigger but i have been putting cream on since I got pregnant trying to avoid stretch marks

I have now gained 10 lbs so far.

Hope all is well and everyone is feeling good

Thought I'd mention that a friend of mine used to break up vitamin E capsules and rub them onto her skin and she found that was the only thing that helped with dryness. She also didn't get any stretch marks after 3 pregnancies so it sounds like something I'm going to try!
