Thin Expecting Cysters/Graduates, what was your magic formula?
Well, to all the thin expecting cysters and mom! Because you've stood where I am standing right now (TTCing in an emotional roller coaster), you guys are my inspiration. Each one of you.
I wanted to ask you a few questions to give myself some hope.
What was your BMI when you conceived?
Were you on Metformin? If yes, at what dose and for how long?
Did Clomid work for you? Which cycle and dose?
How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon?
What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)?
Were you on any special diet?
I'd be VERY grateful if you could answer these questions for me

2. Yes, I was on Metformin ER 2000mg. I had been on 1500mg for 8 months and had switched up to 2000mg the month or two before BFP.
3. Yes, Clomid worked (I think!). I was on round 4 150mg.
4. From actively TTC to BFP, it was about 6 months (4 Clomid cycles, but I have long cycles, which is why it was longer than just 4 months). I took my first Clomid round in 3/07 and got BFP on 10/1/07 (from the clomid I took in 8/07--I didn't O until CD37).
5. When I got BFP, I was on 150mg Clomid and 2000mg Met. I don't know if this was a magic formula or not, as I'm skeptical about the Met's role in this (I'm not sure it did anything for me). My BFP round, I also had an HSG, which they say sometimes promotes BFPs because it makes the tubes squeaky clean, I had had surgery so I wasn't allowed to exercise at all, I decided to not eat any soy products. So that's a lot going on during that time, so who knows if any or all or none actually contributed to my success.
6. Diet: Nothing special. I don't eat a lot of meat and used to eat a lot of soy products (like the fake meats, tofu, edamame, etc) but I had heard that lots of soy might be bad for PCOS and TTC so I stopped eating that--otherwise diet stayed the same.

4. How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? Started timed BDing in Jan of 2006, went to RE in Nov. 06 dx PCOS, 1st round of clomid Jan-ish 07, BFP Nov 2007
5. What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? Follistim 75IU CD 3-11, IUI CD 12, Progesterone CD15-33

Were you on Metformin? If yes, at what dose and for how long? Yes. I was supposed to be taking 1500mg, but I probably only got about 750-1000mg in on average. I conceived on my 2nd full cycle after starting Met.
Did Clomid work for you? Which cycle and dose? No, but I wasn't taking Met at the time. I don't know if that would have made any difference. I O'd on all 6 cycles of Clomid.
How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? I took us 4 1/2 years from ttc, to baby born. We did take a year and a half break during that time because of a move and starting grad school. I started back on Met in preperation for IVF.
What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? For me it was a long break from ttc, followed by Met.
Were you on any special diet? Diets? Yuck! I did lose about 5-7 lbs during those couple of months on Met. I don't know if that made any difference, though.

Were you on Metformin? If yes, at what dose and for how long? Yes... varying dosages, see my siggy for each one it takes me 3-4 months each time to get pregnant.
Did Clomid work for you? Which cycle and dose? I never tried clomid
How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? I tried for over a year before being diagnosed, but after diagnosis and met it takes me 3-4 months to get pregnant. Whatever month I start met in is the month I give birth the following year all three times.
What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? Met... see signature
Were you on any special diet? I did varying degrees of low carb

1. What was your BMI when you conceived? Dunno, upper end of healthy so somewhere around 20-22
2. Were you on Metformin? If yes, at what dose and for how long? Yes, about a year, 1000mg a day
3. Did Clomid work for you? Which cycle and dose? N/a
4. How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? 6 months of a LOT of unprotected sex.. lol
5. What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? Metformin and a lot of sex, lol
6. Were you on any special diet? Low GI, though that's gone out the window now oops.

Were you on Metformin? If yes, at what dose and for how long? 500mg Met ER for just over 5 months.
Did Clomid work for you? Which cycle and dose? Tried Clomid 50mg once, didn't ovulate. Ovulated on 3 cycles of Femara 5mg, trigger, IUI but never got pregnant.
How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? 16 months
What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? Took 3 months "off" from the RE and just charted and took Metformin
Were you on any special diet? No, but I eat pretty healthy overall. Lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats.

4. How long did it take altogether, from actively TTCing to what you hold today or are about to hold soon? With DH for 5 years, 3 of those years unprotected sex, started temping/natural remedies/acupuncture in September 07. BFP March 08
5. What was your magic formula (this may be repetition for those who got their BFP with clomid)? Diet + clomid
6. Were you on any special diet? Was on the Southbeach diet for 3 months before I conceived. I have no proof that it helped but I'm convinced that it did! That's gone out the window for me now too....the baby wants carbs.

Metformin
6. Were you on any special diet?
I have always eaten healthy, only good carbs (always avoid white carbs where possible), lots of veggies, fruits, nuts, whole grains, etc. No red meat, just chicken and fish.
One more thing I forgot to add... dropped my BMI from around 23-24 to 19 from 10/07 through 1/08 from low impact weight training with a trainer and light cardio -- my body has never felt so good. :-) Don't know if it made a difference or not though? Just thought I'd add it since alot of us seem to be in 19 range.
