I just got back from my doctor appointment and am pretty disappointed. Baby is healthy and 5.1 lbs so that it what really matters. But the baby is breech (which I knew but doc told me different last time!) and he said that I am so tight that he highly doubts the baby will flip. He won't even try to manually do it because he says there just isn't room. I am going back in a week and then will schedule a c-section for 10 days before my due date. I just can't quit crying! I feel so selfish because I have a healthy baby which I am so grateful for but am so hurt that I don't even get a choice to have this baby vaginally. I have been reading so much about natural births and trying to prepare myself for a vaginal birth and it never crossed my mind I wouldn't get to deliver the way I had my heart set on. Sorry, I am just so emotional right now! If anyone has any advice on how to flip a baby I am here to listen.
I will do personals later, thanks for listening to my hormonal episode.

My Mood: Points: 26,730.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 26,730.31 | Amber--maybe that's why your picture reminded me so much of myself--our babies are the wrong direction! I'm so sorry you're so upset about it. I was at first too, but I've had a while to get used to it.
My doctor has told me a few things about babies being breech. 1. They can still flip, even if it doesn't seem like there's room. He said a lot of times he's scheduled a c-section and on the day the mom comes in, the baby has magically flipped and all he does is induce (I think he said 70-80% of the time, but I think that's a little high, although I have NO knowledge on it at all!).
2. He said to drink AS MUCH liquid as I can in order to increase the amniotic fluid as much as possible to give the baby the best chance to flip on its own. He told me this at last week's appt and I drowned myself and nothing happened, though, so I don't know how well that'll work.
3. Manually flipping. He said that it's up to me if I want to try it. If it works and he can flip her, he tied a belt around the waist and we immediately go to induce me so there's no time for the baby to flip again.
I think that's all my dr had to say about it. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
My brother's roommate is a nurse and he said that babies respond to light, so you can try shining a flashlight down there and it sometimes gets the baby to flip. I have NO idea if that is remotely true, but he's a nurse, so I don't think he's completely making it up!
I think I've also heard of people laying upside down to try and flip them (like those pens with the liquid in them that you turn upside down and the hula girl goes from the top to the bottom...)
But I'm glad despite that the baby is healthy...
Aturn--yeah for softening!

Well, we had our appointment this morning and everything looked good. We are having 1 of each!! VERY excited! The u/s tech said she couldnt see a 4 chambered heart on the little girl so we will go back in 3 weeks for another u/s. Both my regular dr and the high risk dr werent surprised they said a lot of times they cant see the 4 chambered heart on a women with a singleton pregnancy before 20 weeks.

My Mood: Points: 6,606.71 Bank: 39,137.28 Total Points: 45,743.99 | Sheepie...I think our babies are going to be long distance twins. lol They seem to be doing the same thing. This one was moving so much yesterday too. Normally s/he will move some here or there but not all day. Maybe they are both trying to flip. Thanks so much for all the advice. I will be trying all of it! It's great to hear your doctor is optimistic. Mine was just like, "there's not enough room to flip, so it's not likely." I am going with what your doc said!
Aturn...Funny hearing you say that you might be making stuff up in your head. I was "feeling" things going on thinking that maybe my body was starting to get ready and I might go early. Then today when I found out about the babe being breech, all those feelings went away and I don't feel like anything is happening. Just wishful thinking for me, lol. I am glad to hear you are soft and open a "nudge". Great to hear the babies are doing good.
Shell..Thank you so much for the website. I will defiantly check it out and try whatever tricks they have. I can't believe you are already 13 weeks. I feel like it was just yesterday when you were announcing your BFP! Congrats!
Bobbysgirl...Thanks! I am not giving up and hope s/he decides to flip. The initial shock was hard but I feel better about it now.
Heidi...Congrats on the great ultrasound. One of each is awesome!! I am sure your little girls heart is fine. You are almost half way done already!
Well my pity party is over. Thanks so much for letting me have my little emotional breakdown. It was just so unexpected since the doc told me the babe was head down and I never gave it a 2nd thought. I am fine with a c/s, just needed to adjust my thinking. I will be trying everything safe to flip this LO though. Thanks for all the support!

The hole on the inside that I could never see from mine is now on the edge of the belly button, its about to be visible from the outside. And the top hole/scar has moved up. Its sooo funny. Mine was totally closed up though, I hadn't worn mine in probably 4-5 years.

We just had our first ultrasound, well, we had one before but I was 7 weeks and it looked like a blob. I'm so excited!! The technician guessed the sex and said he thinks it's a boy (70%). I saw a penis, so unless that penis turns into a vagina, it's a boy. Everything looked great! He was touching his face and rolling around. I'm in total awe! I'm so confused though cause I was convinced I was having a girl and kept having girl dreams, what the hell do I know. DH is super happy it's a boy. Anyway, I'm just rambling on right now and I need to get to work. Hope you're all doing well!

Points: 49,590.90 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 49,590.90 | Hey Ladies! Wow, I’ve only been away a day or so but it seems like so much had happened!
Codi – DH and I didn’t find out we were expecting until I was 6+ weeks so we’d been DTD in early pg already. Then I felt pretty miserable for the next 3 weeks so I don’t think we did again until about 10w. We’ve done it here & there since and I’ve never had an issue with spotting or cramping. I definitely notice I’m a little more sensitive afterwards tho, so be prepared for that. I’d say give it a try and take it slow and just see how it goes. As for the belly button ring, my sister had one and she took it out around 4-5 mos when her belly was really growing and the ring was starting to stretch a bit. I don’t think it closed up – but she had it for a good 4 years before she got pg.
Sheepie – Wow! That’s so exciting that the baby is so active right now. I hope she figures out a way to flip. Are you considering a manual flip or are you leaving it up to the baby?
Aturnbg – I’m so excited to hear that you’re starting to have contractions and your cervix is soft and flat! It’s getting closer! The “nudge” comment is funny. I’ve heard a fingertip dilated, but never a nudge… Sorry the dr won’t even discuss and induction, but I don’t think you’ll go another 4 weeks. How exciting!
CaliGirl – I’m sorry to hear your baby is breech. It’s so hard when we get an idea of what our birth experience will be and then when it changes it throws us for a loop. DS’s birth was so far off from what I’d imagined… It took a long time for me to come to terms with it. You might want to check out Spinning Babies. DS was anterior (face up) and I used these techniques to get him to turn the right way. Some of these techniques are on the site Shell posted too. And if it the baby doesn’t flip you’ll do fine with a c/s and you’ll still feel like a mother.
Heidi – Glad the appt went well. And how exciting that you’re having a boy and a girl! Sorry they weren’t able to see your baby girl’s heart but it sounds like nothing to worry about. Plus now you get to see your babies again in a few weeks!
Evyn – Sorry you’re so tired. Hope you get a burst of energy in time for the weekend.
Rose – Congrats on the boy! I love having a son – you’ll have so much fun.
Refrain – Thinking of you!
My big news this week is I got a new job!! I’m so excited. I’ve been looking since January and I’ve been close on a couple of positions but I finally found the one that’s the right fit. I can’t wait to start! The company is a great organization, it’s much closer to home (I currently commute 30-40 min each way), the salary and benefits are better, I’m excited about the type of work I’ll be doing, and most of all I’m thrilled to be making such a promising change. I’ve been with the same company for 10+ years and I’ve run out of growth opportunities. This company has so much to offer and they’re excited about bringing me on board.
I also wanted to wish all of you a Happy Mother’s Day this weekend! You may not be holding your babies in your arms yet, but you’re doing a very important job that only a mother can do right now. Make sure you take a few moments to remember that on Sunday and enjoy your special day.
Does anyone have fun plans for Mom’s Day?

Evyn: Sorry you're so tired. I am fighting the same thing too. The last two days I've gotten out of bed feeling like a zombie. Hopefully we'll get some relief soon.
