Yeah, I've started weight training.. and actually even core strength training with some pretty advanced pilates 3 times a week. And it's helped SO much. I'm not losing weight per se, but it's helping with the belly a lot.

Yeah me too. I try without being strict, basically no white flour and sugar, more veggies and lots of fish. I don't find it too difficult but I am not on a super serious regimine. However I find it dissapopinting that unlike heavier PCOS women who immediatly lose weight I notice no difference on a low GI diet. It must be helping me, maybe internally - certinly it can't be hurting but it woudl be more motivating if I felt better or lost my belly fat for once.

Aah!! I can relate so much to what everyone's saying here. I'm 5"7 116lbs, lift weights (as heavy as I can) 3 times a week and walk a fair bit. The rest of me is basically skin, bone and muscle to the point where I am trying to put on weight. However my stomach constantly looks bloated. It's not fat so much (as in rolls/flab).. more protruding in the lower stomach area so I always look like I've just eaten a big meal. Like a lot of you, when I flex I have a 6 pack. I eat healthy - basically just oats, soy milk, chicken, veges, nuts, dried fruit and wraps with the occasional bit of junk food and I tried cutting out dairy for 2 weeks but didn't see a change at all so now I'm looking for other things to try!

Great to find this forum. I am a petite 5' and my weight in the past year has fluctuated from 95-104lbs. I knew I had problems with cysts but at that time didn't need to worry because I wasn't ready for children. Now I am. When I got my U/S the tech. asked if I was ever dx with PCOS. NO! So here I am a non typical PCOS woman. But my abdomen looks like I am pregnant. Other people say...oh your getting older, its healthy.... Not for me. I am uncomfortable and hardly have any pants that fit.

Default slim with fat tummy

You are definately not alone with being slim everywhere else except from your tummy region.I was diagnosed with pcos nearly 4 yrs ago but, I have always had problem periods, facial hair and excess hair growing in the most unlikely places grrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!! I think that I have always had pcos and it has taken me this long to try and convince my doc to do anything ie an internal scan to prove that I have ovarian cysts.Just this week I have been reading up a lot about pcos and hirsutism and decided to go along to my docs and see if I could perhaps try vaniqa but, I got a locum doc who said that I didnt strike her as being a classic pcos sufferer ie overweight!!!!!!!! She has arranged for me to go and get a hormone level blood test done and another test to check me for the MENOPAUSE as I have been getting hot flushes lately!!!!!!!! I have to say my mood changed after seeing her as I felt so patronised with her just assuming that because I am not in an overweight condition that my pcos and facial hair were less of a problem ....... maybe they aren't to her but they blooming well are to me grrrrrr. My tummy depresses me like nearly every single day of my life ,I am the same as you , the rest of me is okay but my belly makes me feel like a pot belly pig

Just my 2 cents, I did ballet as a child, and they enforced sucking in your stomach to improve tone, I never have my stomach muscles relaxed

ugh I have this too.. Low carbing, eating every two to three hours, anti-androgens, and maca are helping.. Anything that controls insulin/glucose will also help

omg, this is the story of my life. i have had a belly since birth, and it hasn't been banished yet.

I am 26 and have a 23 bmi (5'3", 135 lbs). I am not as thin as a lot of the body sizes i am seeing here, but am pretty compact and fit looking (muscular legs, larger bone structure, and sink like a stone). The exception is my stomach...no matter what, it is there. The only thing that fixes it is just not eating at all, but that causes gas, and my stomach gets big from distension.

It's also stealthy...it doesn't show when I am standing, but likes to stick out a little when I sit down, but only sometimes. I used to run about 20-30 miles a week, and weight trained and even then, i still had a little pouch. like it was flat on top, with a little roll at the bottom. Most of the time, it doesn't look big at all, it is just that is doesn't match the rest of my body. I have the same trouble as the original poster...even though i can feel my abs underneath, and i know they are there, they are covered in a layer of fat.

Question, do you all have bellies that stick out, or are they just wider? mine has always just stuck out, and i don't get love handles. actually, i look narrow from the front, but I am very self conscious about how i look from the side.

I feel like we are at most at risk for being mistaken for being pregnant, simply because we are small otherwise...im terrified of it, actually, like, on a bad day or in the wrong outfit, i could be a month or so along. i've gotten very good at dressing around it.

my boyfriend thinks i am nuts, and over self conscious...it's nice to find people with the same issue...

any coping strategies, besides the never ending fatloss battle (which doesn't work because you lose fat globally, so it is always relative)???

thanks!

anyone feel the same?

just wanted to add to my post that, even though i have a little fat over my tummy, most of the appearance is bloated, and not fat related, which is why it looks the same no matter my weight or fitness. aggravating to no end.

oh, and i have only worn a bikini twice, due to the belly (and a little excess hair) a darn shame, and a waste of an otherwise cute body .

even though i complain a lot, i have a lot to be grateful for...I am normal sized, no skin problems (i scar easily, but i am black, so its nothing abnormal), and don't have any male pattern hair loss, skin tags, acne (i did from age 10 - 14 but it just disappeared and hasn't come back since).
