Default Thin & losing weight on Metformin?

I just started taking Met 2 weeks ago. 1st week 250mg daily 2nd week 250mg twice daily. My question is this. I am thin to start are there any others out there in the same boat & if so did you continue losing weight or did it plateau? Did you have to alter your intake to compensate? Did the Dr. take you off of it for to much weight loss?
Thanks Christie

hey Christie,

I was thin to start with too, when I started met a month and a half ago. When I got up to 750 a day and then 1000 a day, I noticed that I started losing a little bit of weight (I didn't lose anything on 250 and 500 a day). Now I am worried I may fall below the healthy weight range that you need to be in to ovulate normally. I am seeing my repro specialist next week and we will talk then about ideal weight and how to keep it on on met (I think the trick may be to eat more healthy fats - not saturated fat).

A friend of mine got taken off met for losing too much weight. I don't want to be taken off of it, since I have tried diet and exercise in preparation for pregnancy for almost a year and a half and it hasn't been enough for my body to O, although it has gotten pretty close sometimes.

What is the dose that your doc wants you to build up to? My doc only prescribed 1000 a day, and I think this may partly be due to my weight. Or maybe due to the fact I am so close to O on diet and exercise.

Hope this helps...
Michelle

I don't know if he is planning on upping my dose or now I have a follow up appt next month. I am not TTC as my tubes were tied 4/04. I was blessed somehow with my 2 little ones. I think the stress that I have had over the last 2yrs has made the PCOS finally come to a boil coupled with the fact that I haven't been off the pill for this long that I can remember. I haven't dropped anymore so maybe I will settle in @ 122. I can live with that if that is the case. I will just have to be careful come summer & eat more protein & such. I plan on discussing this with him & if I lose more before the next visit calling the office.
Thanks Michelle for your input. It is nice to chat with someone having similiar PCOS issues.
