That is IT! I am on to my babies! The little guy has been sleeping for the last 8.5 hours! I wish the little turkey would sleep that long at night time!

I just called H and told him that the little guy is *still* asleep, and we had a little strategy session. I usually nurse the babies when they wake up in the middle of the night, but they sleep longer when they get a bottle full of milk instead of taking it right from the tap. So tonight we're going to try to feed them bottles when they wake up in the middle of the night... maybe we'll cut down just 1 night time feeding. That sure would be nice!

Now.. I don't know about preemies, so ask your doc first, but I have learned a thing or two with each baby. The first baby, I assumed that if she woke up she needed to eat. Soooo I fed her everytime she woke up... in fact I fed her anytime anything happened... just woke up... she must need to eat.. fuss a little... must need to eat, rubbing her eyes... must need to eat. So, i fed her constantly!!! She porked up plenty good! (although this baby is just as chubby!) What I've now learned (and of course all babies are different.. and maybe preemies are even more different I don't know) is that just becuase they fuss or wake up doesn't necessarily mean they are hungry. I co sleep, so I attempt to cuddle/comfort when she wakes up first and if that doesn't work THEN I feed her. However, with your milk supply issues, it might be best just to go ahead and feed anyway? Certainly won't hurt the babies, just leaves you tired (I know from experience!!) She now goes 3-4 hours between feedings and up to 9 hours at night (although thats fairly new). I've found that when she's fussy it usually means she is tired more often than that she is hungry. (with my first I just fed her and she'd fall asleep, so I assumed it was that she wanted to eat, but in all liklihood she needed to sleep and nursing helped her nod off) But preemies and twins for that matter since you probalby have to try to schedule it all differently may be totally different.

in other news, we're spending the afternoon outside with the new dog. I think I'm falling in love! The sweet little thing is sooo timid, but she's starting to follow me around. She gets a little scared when I go to pet her, but i think she likes it. She seems to be getting used to having the kids around her too and they are being good about just leaving her alone. Now if we could just bathe her!!!

Well, the bigger baby has been really close to sleeping through the night for over a month now. I really think he'd do it if his brother wasn't waking him up! But the little guy is very scrawny still, so we need to feed him everything he'll eat. He still hasn't hit 8 pounds!

Karol: I just can't imagine how little he must be. Alexa was 8.3 at birth (18 pounds at 4 months and 18.2 at 6 months). When my first came home from the NICU she was 6.1 pounds and she seemed enormous compared to the others.

Yeah, he's tiny, but not nearly as tiny as he used to be! He's more than tripled his birth weight already, and he has a little double chin

Well, our plan to get the babies to sleep longer sorta worked. We fed the little guy a bottle at 7, but he didn't settle down until 9, then he slept until 2. He had formula in that bottle & I think it upset his stomach. I'm planning on pumping several times today, so hopefully we can give him bottles full of milk instead of formula tonight & in the middle of the night. He must be going through a growth spurt, because he is STARVING today! He wants to eat every 2 hours. Yay!

Tiara was 1 lb 15 ozs when she was born. When I took her home she was about 6lbs. RJ was 5lbs 12ounces when he was born and when he came home. They told me to feed him every 2-3 hours if breastfeeding and 3-4 hours if formula feeding

Amanda- I'm glad you mentioned that too since I didn't want to make it sound like you should try to space out night feedings with a newborn... not good for baby and not good for milk supply! How is everything going? Adorable pictures by the way!

Karol- glad you had a better night!

Trish- Yea, with newborns you have to grin and bear it with the night thing. Things are fine. RJ went to bed about 10 last night and woke up at 1 and again at 4 to eat and went back to sleep. I feel pretty refreshed. LOL Also I found a place that sells all sorts of wraps close to my house. I am going to go there tomorrow.

Wow Amanda, Tiara was a tiny little thing when she was born! It was scary enough with our little guy weighing 2lb 7 oz. I can't imagine how scary it was when she was born.

Hello ladies....sorry I've been such a stranger/slacker. I've just been so incredibly busy lately since I started a new home based business with GemStyle and my addiction to myspace took up my time that I would usually come on here!

Wow, new babies around here huh?? I can't believe my Tyler is almost 4 months already. He's getting big...and he's such a good baby, just like his sister. I thought for sure he'd be a hellion since DD was such a good baby. But he was sleeping through the night 8pm-7am at 10 weeks and now he goes to bed about 6:30pm and this morning he woke a little after 8. But I think that's mostly because he decided to be a thumb sucker, which I'm not too happy about. I'm happy that he's able to pacify himself and stay asleep, but I'm not looking forward to possibly crooked teeth and having to get him to stop the thumb sucking, but I guess I'll cross that road when we get there.

Trish - I saw you mentioned on the other board that you were waiting for solids....I can't wait any longer. I started giving him bananas the other day and he gets cereal for breakfast. He was getting to where he was drinking an 8oz bottle every few hours and still not satisfied. He'd drink another 2-3oz and finally just sit up and play and smile....so the pediatrician said that that was just too much and that we could start him on cereal....he seems much more satisfied and he loves the bananas. But I still won't give him juice or anything until after 1 year.

Chrystal- glad to see you back! I started my other two at 4 months, but as I wrote on the other thread, I'm no rush as I feel I have enough to do without adding solids just yet! That and with the cloth diapers, once I add solids it'll be a whole new world! But, we'll see how it goes. She seems content for now.

Well, this is turning into my dog mom thread!!! But, I'm totally in love! She's still skiddish, but last night when we put her in her kennel she just started barking. I thought well, maybe she needs a night light, so I got her one, but she still kept barking, so I let her out and she ended up sleeping with me all night. Chihuahuas aren't necessarily the best family dogs, but they are difinitely the best Trisha dogs! For a dog that wasn't socialized at all, she is turning into a snuggler! She follows me around everywhere. I call her my little shadow.

Hey Curlysue! Long time no see! I'm glad to see that you have a happy, healthy chunkko on your hands

Trisha, our little chihuahua is the same way. She's not a great family dog, but she follows me everywhere. She's my little velcro girl. My girl wasn't socialized either & it's taken her a long, long time to be comfortable around people other than me, but she is just the sweetest little thing now. Hopefully Clover Dover will come out of her shell soon

Amanda: Your pictures are precious!

Curleysue: Hey! I am glad to hear everything is going well. Alexa is a thumb sucker too. I love that she is able to pacify herself at night; since she was 4 months she has been sleeping from 7p to 8a. Such a change from my first!

Trisha: I have been wanting a small dog for so long, but my hubby wont let me. ;( He says if I want another child...no pets. I thought about getting him a puppy for his birthday or just wait until I have my last baby and then buy one.

Hey Crystal.

Karol- Yes, it was something, but she is a healthy 9 year old. I am truly blessed.

I went and picked up a Moby ring sling yesterday. Haven't used it yet.

Amy- Thank you much.
