My Mood: | So how is everyone? I have an ear infection! I've only had two my whole life and both as an adult.. i thought it was a kid thing!
The dog situation is a bit tense right now. We've had her two and a half weeks now and she has really overcome her timidness. She LOVES me, herein lies the problem... she doesn't want anyone to come near me! She has started growling and barking at the kids whenever they are near me. My daughter (who was already a bit fearful of small dogs) is getting very frightened and I don't blame her. If a dog acted like that to me, I'd be scared too. I hate to have to get rid of her, but don't want my daughter living in fear (and my kids are actually VERY good with the dog, they let her come to them and never try to pick her up or anything... she is just being protective of me!) The good thing is that I don't think she'd be that hard to find a new home for, but I'll still feel bad if it comes to that. SOOOO, moral is that apparently Chihuahuas are my best dog... but only if I live by myself! (my old one was kind of like that too, but grew accustomed a little more slowly to the babies as I was pregnant and before they could move... he didn't particularly like them, but he tolerated them)

| Hi ladies. Just popping in. Still no baby for me!
Trisha -- question and a couple of comments for you. First, sorry about the ear infection! I've gotten them pretty often as an adult and it's NO FUN. Second, re: Clover, you know the Dog Whisperer on Nat'l Geographic Channel? He had an episode with that exact situation - a chihuahua who was very possessive of the mom in the family . . . but I don't remember exactly what all he recommended. I think that part of it was that the mom had to correct the dog whenever he/she showed the unwanted behavior. But if you get the Nat'l Geographic channel you might just be able to keep an eye out for the episode about a possessive chihuahua, they run repeats all the time.
The question - I know you've said you had at least one induced labor -- with your youngest, I think? Can you tell me a little more about how that went? My due date is this Friday but I'm just starting to think that nothing's going to happen. Last appt I was "2+" cm dilated and "soft" and I'm having some BH contractions, but that's about it. I lost a good bit of mucous plug over the weekend (TMI!). But I'm just worried that things are not going to get started on their own anytime soon. If there were any doubt at all about the baby's gestational age I wouldn't be so quick to consider induction, but we did a trigger shot and IUI, so I am very sure about conception and due date. How "ripe" do you think you have to be to be successfully induced? I'm just thinking, if nothing happens by Monday 4/7, I may ask my doc if they will consider an induction for later next week.

My Mood: | I was induced with all 3 actually. 37.5 weeks with #1 (unexpectedly.. I was having contractions and her HR wasn't doing well) 38 weeks with #2 (I was on meds to prevent preterm labor from 32 weeks and my kids are big for gestational age and sometimes the meds make it hard for you to then go into labor on your own... they work too well sometimes) and 38.5 weeks with number 3 again... big for gestational age, but mostly just cause I wanted it!
They were 7 lbs 9 oz, 7 lbs 11 oz, and 7 lbs 8 oz (so pretty good sizes for being early and me so small)
I don't know the "exact" recommendations for induction and it may vary on OBGYN, but I'd think you'd probably be a candidate. Basically the routine is you come in, they hook you up to all the monitors, they start an IV, start the pitocin, break your water and thats that. If you want an epidural you get it when you request it (contractions start pretty bad pretty quickly with an induction) Inductions work great for me and the first one was unplanned, the problem with the first induction is that you just don't know for SURE that they'll work as well for you until you do it and you may increase your chance of a c-section(although you may need one regardless, but you need to definitely consider the risks) the fact that you are somewhat ripe is definitely a plus though. My labors were very quick, from time in and baby delivered maybe 6 hours? Its crazy surreal! Does that answer your questions?
As far as the dog... I havent' seen it, but I'll take a look. We made some changes last night and I have started to be a little more alpha dog to her... it was hard in the beginning becuase she was so timid and I didn't want to scare her, but obviously we either discipline her better or she won't be able to stay with us. So, I've been stern to her when she barked and then we praised her extensively when she hasn't and have been haivng the kids give her treats and feed her when she's been good. I jsut worry mostly about my daughter as she was starting to hide from the dog! She loves our other two, but tends to be scared of other dogs and I worry this might make it worse, but today its been going okay so far. I'm hoping for the best!

| Yup, thank you, Trisha, that answers everything! My fear about it is the increased risk of c-section. Maybe I'll go into labor on my own soon. I'm just having a good bit of back pain all the time and I don't think I can hold on til 42 or 43 weeks if baby doesn't decide to come out on his/her own. I'm feeling pretty grumpy, too, but trying not to take it out on everyone, LOL!
Sounds like you're doing everything right for li'l Clover. Crossing my fingers it all works out for you guys.
Amanda, Amy, Karol, Curlysue - hope you ladies and little ones are all doing well, too! I hope to be joining you officially soon!

| Amy- I try to get sleep when RJ does. We tend to wake up every 2.5 hours at night so not too bad.
Trish- That is great.
New pics, I can't believe he is 4 weeks already.
