thin, not ttc, want to avoid preg, migraines, acne

I'm just hoping that the title of this thread will attract other cysters with the same problems. I find so many threads on here that are close to my situation but there is usually one huge difference - which is usually ttc.

I was just diagnosed at the beginning of Nov. I am relatively thin (5'2" 118lbs). I have two beautiful girls ages 8 & 6 and I'm quite sure I am not going to have any more - therefore not only am I not TTC I wish to avoid pregnancy but still have a fun and healthy sex life. I can not do bcp's because they make my migraines worse.

I haven't started any meds yet - I go to the dr on 12/12 and he said he would probably start me on met.

Goals:

regulate periods ( only because it is medically necessary!)
NEED MORE ENERGY - I could sleep all day and sometimes I do
get rid of the: acne and mood swings
avoid pregnancy while having a normal sex life
avoid migraines
maybe loose a little weight but not the first priority

Hi Kiz!

I have some in common with you: I'm not TTC. I'm about the same age. I have acne and my cycle has been irregular ever since I came off the Pill 4,5 years ago.

I don't take any drugs for PCO. My doc would want me on BCP but I don't want to. It's really hard to me to stay strong with any doctor and I mostly end up with a BCP prescription I didn't want (that has happened 3 times in the past 4,5 years!). I'm hoping to get to try Met, but here in Finland it's really rarely prescribed for thin, not-TTC PCOers.

I'm not sure that there's anything that will regulate your period that's not BCP... have you tried different kinds? Eg. tri-cyphasic vc monphasic? I know a lot of people who had to try a few different kinds of BCP before they found one that they like

You could get an IUD, though... they've come back in the past couple years in a big way
