Default Thin PCOS and long term health effects?

I've done a lot of reading so far since getting diagnosed this last week, but seem to only run into info about long term effects of pcos for women who are overweight. What are the long term health effects I should be looking out for as thin pcos? I dont go to a regular dr each year for a physical b/c I'm a military spouce and its hard to get an apt. I dont even know if my primary care manager(my dr) will know what to really look for or how to evaluate me. I know I should go more regularly now, but dont know what to ask.

Do most of you have your regular dr follow up on your pcos and manage your pcos? If not, who do you have monitor all of this?

I just went to an Endochronologist last week, and that's who I'm going to have monitor my PCOS. I don't know of any long-term side effects, but I can tell you this. He told me within the next 10 years I'll probably be obese. So I'm assuming this goes along with any thin cyster. Start to take care of your diet now, so hopefully we won't run into this problem later on down the road.

Hey, any of my doctors (GYN, PCP, or Endo) all said they could manage my PCOS. I personally went with my PCP since I see him once a year and he is not letting my insurance know about my diagnosis. My Endo (went to him for one visit to confirm PCOS), when I asked about the risks said that I needed to watch out for Diabetes (and I'm already on my way there with Pre-Diabetes) and heart disease. He didn't mention obesity and said that many thin cysters stay thin their whole lives which is why we are so hard to diagnose and treat. I personally just go once a year to get my liver/kidney tests and my script for Met.

My mom had lean PCOS and it seems that her six sisters may have also suffered from the condition. They are in their 60's and 70's now and none of them are obese. Granted they are heavier than they were in their 20's and 30's, but who isn't at that age? The big concerns are diabetes and heart disease. I think they all take high blood pressure medication, and a few take medication for high cholesterol. Taking all these medications is not fun, but I guess we should be thankful that modern medicine has found ways to treat these conditions and (hopefully) prolong our lives. My mom is being treated for these conditions by her PCP. I think that's the direction I will take once I'm done having children.
