thin PCOS, no IR, normal androgens, MTHFR mutation
I'm 5' 1" and 106 pounds, and I have polycystic ovaries with anovulation. We got pregnant right off birth control with our first child who is 2 1/2 years old but have recently learned that I have PCOS, but I don't have insulin resistance or high androgen levels.
I've had endometrial hyperplasia, did three months of Provera, had a negative endometrial biopsy and have recently been given the clear to TTC again. If I don't ovulate on my own this cycle, we are going to start Clomid in March. If after three months of Clomid, we aren't pregnant, my OB-GYN will refer me to a fertility doctor.
Anybody else have a similar story? I seem to be a strange medical case to everybody. In addition to PCOS, I also had severe preeclampsia with my son who was delivered at 29 weeks gestation, and I have a blood clotting disorder (MTHFR mutation). I just wanted to see if anybody else has all these same kinds of problems or if I am just a random case.
Hmmm - I'm normal weight. test non-ir but think I am, docs say normal androgens but I think they're high after reading on here and I apparently have one copy of the MTHFR mutation. Not sure what that means but the doc that found it wanted me to take extra folic acid. Other doctors seem to blow it off.
I didn't have trouble conceiving or carrying to term twice though. My pcos has gotten worse after this last pregnancy, so not sure if a third pregnancy would happen as smoothly now.
I confuse ALL the doctors. I technically CAN'T have PCOS because I don't have "enough" of the symptoms. I have are cystic ovaries, high LH and and long-ish cycles (30 to 60 days). I'm not overweight. Not IR. Don't have high androgens. I swear I've been diagnosed and undiagnosed 3 times by one ovarian specialist, 3 OBs, and 2 REs. I have finally stopped searching for The Answer and accept that regardless of what name you give it, my ovaries ACT like I have PCOS.
