I have a question about metformin? Have any of you thin ladies using metformin noticed a weight gain? Or has anyone gained weight while on other medication?
Just wondering ~

Semoan - I have been on met for a little over 2 months now and I haven't noticed any weight gain. My breast, however, are a little fuller but this could be due to many number of reasons.

I started met last month and I did notice a weight gain, particular in my stomach area which is where I NEVER gain weight. Also, my face is breaking out despite the fact that I'm on spiro too, and it hasn't broken out since I started spiro five years ago! However, I cut back from 1500mg to 1000 mg and am feeling a bit less bloated this week so I'm hoping the side effects are just temporary? Good luck!
Hi there,
Just wanted to add that I didn't gain any weight when I started Met. My weight didn't change, or I may have lost 1 or 2 lbs max.
I haven't been on any other meds that can affect weight other than BCP, but it didn't change my weight either.

Well, I guess the test don't lie. AF decided to pay me a visit this morning. There is a positive and a negative to every side I guess. It is a positive thing that my cycle was 31 days this time. I have gotten AF every month since I started met. The negative of course is that I didn't get the BFP I wanted. I think my BF will take it harder then I will, cause he was almost positive I was pg this go round. Well there is always next month.

Hi Semoan~
At first I was so freakin bloated I thought the met was making me gain weight. Once I had been taking though I actually lost weight. Probably like 5-7 lbs. I don't understand why since I never had the horrid side effects I read about. I also have been eating better, low gi foods only so that may be why.
HTH~

I did not gain weight on Metformin. In fact, I have lost about 8 pounds since January, but am not sure why - I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits all that much.
When I started back on Metformin after my m/c, I was very, very bloated, but didn't have a weight gain. After about 2 weeks, the bloating went away.
Since starting Met, I have had regular cycles and gotten PG every time we've combined Clomid with Metformin! (One PG was not confirmed, only suspected, but I'm almost positive I got PG in mid-January.)
