Today is the first time I’ve ever heard of PCOS. I posted a message to a board on webmd and got told I might want to check into PCOS. So after just a one mere afternoon of research and reading, here I am.
I had my first period when I was 16. The next one came 3 months later, and the third came when I was 18. My body blew up when I was in 4th grade and I have been fat ever since. I have talked with doctors and doctors and more doctors about my issues to which they all told me to lose weight. None of them would listen to me when I said it doesn’t matter how I eat (or don’t eat) and no matter how much I exercise, I’m still fat. One of my doctors told me that the escalated testosterone level in my body is why I didn’t have a period and that was caused because of my weight. If I lost weight my periods would come back and the excess hair growth would go away.
I’ve been shaving my arms for years longer then I’ve been shaving my legs. The kids at school would pick on me because I had so much hair on them. And now that I’m 32, the hair on my chin and neck and I’d have side burns if I didn’t keep them plucked! I’ve been tested for everything, including thyroid, and all my life been told there is nothing wrong, I just need to lose weight.
So now I find out about this PCOS stuff and wonder if there might not be some help out there for me. I am in the Northeastern Ohio area (Painesville, Mentor) and I suppose the next step is to look for a doctor that might listen to me and want to help me have a baby.
WELCOME TO SC DEMORA! I would suggest posting a query in the "Recommend a Doctor" section to see if anyone is near you and can recommend a good doctor! Best of luck to you!!!

I know that there is a support group on this site from northeast Ohio. I'm in west central Ohio, so I can't really give a recommendation for a doctor, but I know you should be able to find some good ideas here. Welcome!
