Default Think met maybe helping at last

Just wanted to say I have finally started to lose some weight, and am starting to feel a bit better since I have upped the dose to 2000mg.
It took 6 weeks before I lost an oz of weight (sooooo frustrating) but the last 2 weeks I have had a bit more energy so started doing some walking and I am now down 8 lbs yippeeeeeeeeeee. I am so happy, I feel I am finally on my way to weight loss. I am weighing every 2 weeks with a dietitian, but have appointment thurs with my endo so if I have lost any more I will let you all know.
Just said I would post this incase any of you like me were going to stop the met and think it is no use. I am on it about 2 months now. I have 20 lbs left to lose so hopefully someday soon I will achieve that goal.
Best wishes to all you ladies

Just to say good luck to you ladies on met, and to say stick with it. I am finding the side effects are alot less now. I hope to get good feedback from my endocrinologist appointment this thurs, will keep you all posted on how I get on. I am trying to keep up the exercise whenever I can as in my case I am good with the food side of things.

Just to let you know I had endo appointment today and she was very pleased I had managed to lose weight.
As well as the metformin she has me on dianette (pill)
Reductil weight loss pill, and Lyrica to help with fibromyalgia pain as I am an M.E. sufferer so the pain can be very bad when I exercise.
I feel so positive now as feel I can lose the other 20 lbs I have left to lose.
Best wishes to all of you in the same boat as me.

congrats on the weight loss! I found that 2000 mg was my magic number as well!

I am wondering if the 1000 is enough for my PCOS? I am done having children and use it for just the cysts

Not sure if 1000mg is enough, it all depends on your personal situation. You have to keep asking about dose with some doctors, as in my experience my GP hadn't a clue and had me on 500mg forever and I actually piled on the lbs instead of losing so I stopped taking it, and continued to pile on weight "For no apparant reason", so I decided the only way was to go private and see an endocrinologist. I was so relieved to find someone that understood PCOS, and how we have issues with weight etc. The one thing she said to me had me in tears as I was so relieved to here it, she said "Remember this weight gain is not your fault" And we are going to fix it. She said to me that day she would guarantee on the next appointment which was 2 mths away, that I would lose at least 7 lbs.
I now believe I can do this, and when I get to my target weight I can go for IVF again, and please god I will be blessed with a little brother or sister for my son, if not I will have to accept it as I have a blessing already.
Hope everyone of you ladies get what you want from the metformin.
