Question Thinking about coming off the pill.....

hi girls,

wondered if any of you had any advice/thoughts/experiences you could share......

having recently got married (yey!) my hubby and i have decided to start trying for a baby next year, after we sort out a few things such as the car and the post-wedding madness and try to save for a couple of months so we have a little bit of money behind us.

anyway, i was wondering when i should come off the pill....coz im worried about the side-effects of NOT being on it. ive had such good results from being on Yasmin, that im worried i'll get fatter/spottier/hairier etc if i come off it.

the thing is, the last time i came off the pill i only had one period in 18 months, then went back on it coz i was such a mess. and i know it was a different pill, but im just worried it'll happen the same. but on the other hand, i feel i should come of it in time to give my body a break from it and get it out of my system before we start trying (coz ive been told by some people you can have traces of the contraceptive in your system for months after you stop taking the pill).

hmmmmm i think im rambling a bit.

anyway, seeing as quite a lot of you are trying or are already pregnant or are mummies already i thought this would be the best place (coz none of my friends ive talked to have PCOS so dont really know that much about it).

Also...yes theres more... does anyone have any tips for what i could start doing now (perhaps diet or exercise or vitamin-wise) to start preparing for trying to convieve?

i'll go now...!!

have a lovely weekend everyone

xxxx

Hmm if I were you I would come off it and totally prepare your body for pregnancy so hoepfully it wouldnt take you too long to conceive when you want. Try and get your cycles back on track so they become regular without being on the pill. Eat a healthy diet and maybe take metformin if your not on it? Lose weight if you need to because it really will make all the difference. I conceived after losing 4 stone on a low carb diet .. thats what did it for me but Ive heard low GI is good too.

we actually there has been reseach to show that you are more fertile as soon as you come off the pill and is a falisy(sp) that it stays in your system!

It's recommended that you take a folic acid supplement when preparing for pregnancy :-)

thanks girls.

did anyone symptoms get drastically worse when they came off the pill though? thats kind of putting me off coming off it sooner.....

im pretty down about my skin/extra hair at the moment anyway, and im not sure i'd know how i would deal with it if it got much worse :o(

had a bit of a cry about it yesterday - it was one of those days when my skins bad/the spots are sore/i felt frumpy/none of my clothes looked nice to me...and i had to go out and see my relatives and then my hubbys relatives later in the day.

i tried to perk myself up by getting up early and going to the gym this morning, which has made me feel a bit better i must admit.

xx

Thumbs up

I came of yasmin in February and did not have any more symptons. Am still fat, hairy and spotty, I didnt see a change for the better or worse. My periods are still all over the place though, havent had one for 14 weeks, which is a bit of a buggar when we are trying to concieve. I have noticed that i haven't had as many migraines but don't know if this is related or not.

I am taking sanatogen pro natal to prepare for pregnancy, you can get them from boots. Got recommened these from my nurse who said they halp prepare your body for pregnancy and they contain folic acid which is vital.
