Question Thinking about seeing a new kind of doc...

I am wondering about those of you who take thyroid meds, which kind do you prefer? Do you prefer the synthetics or do you prefer the natural (Armour) kind? What side effects do you or have you had?

My endo suggested that I see a doctor with a more "natural" approach. Apparently this is because, as she stated to my face..."I am obsessed with my health. And she cant do anything more for me than BCPs and Spiro."

I have nearly all the symptoms of hypothyroid. At 3.24 TSH, the doc agreed that it is borderline, but she will not medicate. I know the new standard of 3.00 TSH is the cutoff, but I have yet to find a doc who will listen. I think I read somewhere that the optimal TSH is between 1 and 2, especially for those trying to conceive. So I wonder where I fall into all this, since I am done having children. Sorry this turned into a small rant of sorts. Is just so frustrating to be passed from doc to doc and no one will listen to how I FEEL, not just my tests.

Thanks for reading and your advice.

I said to my doctor that Id be happy if we could just try it for awhile and see what happens, I asked if it could hurt anything for me and he said no so he gave it to me.

Default what type of doctor

This is a good question. I can only imagine that you are pressing the doctor about your health because you are not feeling well. I am not surprised that she basically told you she had done all she could for you. I have also received the same response. Blown off. But, in the end, her advice might be the right way to go.

I am going to try a naturopath, or ND, for my health concerns. After 10 years of not receiving the care I needed desperately, I finally am going to try "alternative medicine." This was not a decision I came to easily. Really, it has been ten years of pushing doctors and getting brushed off and still suffering.

So far, it has gone very well, and I am experiencing 1000x more responsiveness from the ND than most MDs I have seen. And, the funny thing about our first appoinment was that she was excited because she believes she can help me. The road to complete recovery is going to be a long one, but I have renewed hope.

If you are still suffering, why not expand your options?
