My husband and I have only been married a lil over two months .. and adoption has been on both of our hearts (we've never prevented pregnancy in any way ) we've since rededicated our lives to Christ though we've not been thrilled about the fact that we did have premarital relations but anyways for the past 18 months we've not attempted to prevent pregnancy and still have only conceived possibly once (feb of this year.. i believe the first week of march i may have had a missed miscarriage)..
anyways we're really wanting to adopt in the near future because its something thats always been on my heart.. my parents were foster parents and it was wonderful growing up ... I've heard that in some instances though you have to be married for sooo long? does anyone know what we will need to do or need to begin the process?

I think first you need to choose where you want to adopt from... different countries i think have different rules...we are adopting from China and had to be married 6 months..good luck

It not only depends what country you go w/ but what agency you use. And if you choose domestic it depends what state you live in as to how long you have to be married. I know for our homestudy agency you have to be married for 2 years.
I would start investigating in to how long you have to be married as well as age requirements (China has an age requirement of 30-both parents).
Good Luck!

I believe it just has to do with the route you go hun. It's all so different. Get you some adoption books or something and read them, reading is the best way to find out things and hey there are so many options out there. Have you guys consider Foster care yourselves or foster to adopt, that would be wonderful. I don't think it matters in a private adoption but I'm not a adoption lawyer either but I think with our adoptions it didn't matter. Your on a wonderful track & I think a lot of you and your husband making this choice, I wish you all the best with everything, your lives together, your marriage and your choice to adopt. God bless you both!
