Thank you for the recipe. I cant wait to try it out. I'm sure my dh will thank you too!
Still holding at 4lbs. Although I am feeling nasty today. I upped my dosage of metformin, and I am ill... Not fun at all. Still sticking to the diet though.
I think I may end up doing the induction phase for just this week. I start 1500 mg of met next monday, and although I will try taking the meds in the am with just cheese, I may have to eat a low carb granola bar or something. I NEVER eat breakfast, so this will be something new for me.
Got past today's birthday party though. No more birthdays until August I think, and by then I HOPE that I will be at a high enough carb level (but still in ketosis) that I could have a sliver of cake. Although the met might not let me...
Hope everyone else is doing great!
Karen
ps... I see gals on the ttc board sending each other sticky vibes... here is an UNSTICKY vibe to everyone so that we can unstick some of our weight!

I'm glad you made it through the birthday party! Those can be hard!! I was wondering what everybody is doing for exercise? It seems like the days that I actually exercise I notice I feel better and I seem to lose more than the days that I haven't. I've just been walking a lot, but I'm thinking of adding some basic situps, push ups, etc. just for some muscle toning and then maybe some aerobics. I don't want to get too carried away!
So what are we all doing for exercise?
Lisa

I am getting so sick off eating meat, anyone else? and i have had to stop taking met as i feel so ill.
I've hardly eaten any carbs so far, so hopefully when i buy new scales i'll get a nice surprise which will give me the kick i need.
Anyway congrats to you "smaller" girls
Keep it up

For exercise I am walking my dog and I teach baton twirling. Moving around with my girls is helpful. I am thinking of starting jazzercise this week too. I am looking forward to that.
Dawn: Dont give up! Maybe it is just water, and in a few days, it will drop. My scales do the up and down thing too... are you weighing at the same time each day? I usually do it after I wake up and potty. Try the keto stix that I mentioned too. When they change color to darker you know that you are burning, even if your scale hasn't caught up.
As for the meat are you eating any fish and chicken? grilled bratwurts with mustard is a great dinner!

Points: 630.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 630.00 | I started low carb today! i am starting back on low carb, but this morning was not so good. I ate one of those atkins creamy cinamon bun breakfast bars and it made me puke and feel awful!!!!! I am eating carrotts with hidden valley ranch dip, salad with honey mustard dressing, cheese, bacon bits, sunflower seeds. I also snacked on sunflower seeds and walnut halves. I am drinking tons of water and some diet drinks! I am eating sugar free cookies. I found a really good ice cream at walmart it is Blue Bunny Brand it is sugar free, it is really good. I am doing low carb and not neccessarily the atkins, cause it was soooo hard for me to do! my biggest problem is i dont have a scale to weigh myself on!!! I will have to weigh in like once a week!

I've been eating three bacon strips and two deviled eggs for breakfast. For lunch I usually eat a chef salad with ranch dressing and my dinner usually consist of a salad and whatever meat I'm cooking for my husband. I finally stepped on the scale and I've lost 4lbs. so far!!! I was so surprised. Any tips or ideas that you have would be appreciated. I'm not a big vegetable eater!
Thanks
Teri

Points: 1,690.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,690.00 | Hi girls! How's everybody doing today? I have af so I'm hungry as a mule, but not for anything tooo bad! I think I need some more ideas of foods to eat while on induction... I'm gonna do two more weeks after this. I'm down 8lbs. from 225 and I think if I can step up my exercise, I'll loose some more, I have so much to loose that I think another 2 weeks of Induction can't hurt. My body seems to be responding and I'm starting to notice that clothes fit better.
Anybody else noticing any improvements in PCOS symptoms with Atkins?
On another note, should we start a new thread? It seems like this is getting long. I'm pretty new to the world of message boards, so I dont' know how it works! THanks!!
Have a great evening!
Lisa

My Mood: Points: 2,913.92 Bank: 317.09 Total Points: 3,231.02 | Hola everybody!!
Sounds like things are going well! Congrats teri on your 4lb loss! Great!
And Lisa it sounds like you are doin great too! I am down 5lbs.
Let's see... Sounds like everyone needs more tips, me included. So you post what you are doing and I'll post some too.
For lunch I usally eat rolled up deli meat with cheese and mayo, and dinner is some sort of meat. Our favorites (my hubby does this with me) are... buffalo wings, steak, chicken with ham and swiss cheese on it, bratwurst (or sausage) and mustard, bacon cheese burgers without the buns, and the ever popular "breakfast for dinner." usually scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage mixed in it.
Lunch ideas... Tuna salad (just tuna and mayo) or toss some tuna on a regular lettuce salad with ranch. tasty! here is one that I did that worked... MEATBALLS! They are great for lunch or dinner... Take regular hamburger meat, mix with a quarter cup italian breadcrumbs (vigo brand is what i use) 1 egg, onion salt, garlic salt, oregano, basil and parmesean cheese by hand kneading. Roll into balls and pan fry in olive oil. They are great by themselves for lunch, and you can melt mozerella cheese on them. YOu dont miss the sketti sauce.
Let me know what you guys are doing, so I can get some new ideas too!
If we make a new thread, just let me know where to find it!

Holy cow!! That is it so far, but maybe as more weight comes off, I will notice less hair etc. anything for ya'll so far?

I did the Adkins diet years ago. All the symptoms I currently struggle with from PCOS came on when puberty hit.. a year or so before jr. high (including big weight gain). The year before I started high school (2 years before my Dx) my mom and I decided to try it, and I ended up losing around 25 pounds! I kept it off for several years, then it just started creeping back.. I think because I was uneducated about PCOS diet and exercise. Anyway, just reading the boards today, I am thrilled to know that it is a good diet for us cysters. I hadn't put my pass success and my PCOS together, so I'm going to do some more reading about it and give it another go!
If any of you are considering starting Adkins or are already doing so and want a buddy or some accountability, let me know!
Blessings,
Christiana

I am restarting Atkins around the middle of the week after I clense my body with a fruit fast for a couple of days. I have some wonderful recipes to share if you would like. I would love to have a diet buddy and accountablity person.
A little about me:
I am 20 years old, and I was diagnosed about 5 years ago, but my symptoms started around age 12. I am currently 320 pounds and would like to be around 150 eventaually. |

Christiana | Hey Christiana and Tabby,
I just started atkins again for the second time on 3/13 (first time back in high school with success) and I'm so excited! I've lost some weight and after the first 3 days of feeling a little sluggish i have so much energy. I have very little cravings and i've found that looking for creative yet simple recipes definately do the trick! I keep a Carb Counting Journal (on paper (i find it too time consuming to do it over the internet) and use www.calorie-count.com to look up the carbs for the veggies and such. I want to lose 50-60 more pounds (hopefully sooner rather than later!!!) and i plan to do the induction phase for atleast a month as long as things go well. I'm 23 from Cali, have had PCOS probably since high school but diagnosed in 2006, not TTC, although later down the line i'm sure i will, and i hope that i can make a few buddies on here to help keep me focused! Alright ladies! Good luck and let me know how you guys are doing!
