I used to log calories there, but found it too time-consuming and I got frustrated trying to stick to my calorie limit. They really do have a good index of foods & info though!
TabbyKat.. I hope you're feeling better soon! About the ticker.. are you using the bbCode script? I haven't tried HTML, but I know that bbCode is working in my sig. Let me know, I'll try to help you sort it out
I'm really excited that you girls are here. We should start a little circle or something I'm working on getting my post count up so that I can send PMs!
Good luck today! Today's my first day... and lunch is my first Atkins meal! I'm pumped.
Christiana

I just wrote you a PM and had the same problem! (dont know why it would be different for me!) So anyways just wanted to see how your first day of Atkins went. Did you have any trouble or cravings?!? I know my first day all i wanted was some Coldstone Icecream!!!! But after the first couple days i was okay. I have sugar free jello (which i've been eating for the past 3 months so its not so bad) and pumpkin with a little butter, cream, splenda, and pumpkin pie spices. I have a really bad sweet tooth so i think that was why i always failed before. But let me know if i can be of help with recipes, daily meal plans or whatever. I'm gonna try and get my posts up to 30! Alright good luck and let me know how you are doing!!!

Points: 1,223.77 Bank: 951.85 Total Points: 2,175.62 | Hey ladies!
My first day of Atkins was carb-free (wahhoo!), but Thursday and Friday weren't that great :S I've been on spring break (thus out to eat at restaurants with friends, over to dinner with family) and so it's been a bit tough to go completely carb-free, which is what I want to do. Anyway, I'll be back at school on Monday and it should be much easier then. I'm still trying to do the best I can while I'm at home.
I think my biggest temptation will be the soda fountain!
Tabby-- I hope by now your cold/flu bug has gone away! I'm not sure about what might be going on with the ticker... I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with your computer's settings? LOL.. not that I really know anything.. more and more I start to feel really elderly when it comes to technology. Maybe you could search the threads for someone with a similar problem.. or maybe the ticker site has a help page? Anyway.. hope your first day goes well tomorrow Let us know about it!
FairLady-- I found a really great thread to get my count up!! http://www.soulcysters.net/game-firs...post1889050125 . I have about 20 now, but for some reason I've been showing as having only 15 for a few days now. Maybe they'll switch over soon. Also, recipes would be awesome! I'm currently living on campus and so my options are a bit limited as far as cooking, but I can do stir fry, salads, wraps, grilled stuff, etc... Since my mom is doing Atkins as well, I could forward them on to her Sometime if you've got a moment to post them up, I'd love that! Thanks!
Have a great weekend!

Sitt having trouble with the ticker, but I have good news, I have lost 7 lbs now, including the two I lost the other day. I know how hard it can be on Spring Break. |

My Mood: Points: 3,639.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,639.34 | Congratulations Tabby!!! Isnt it great when you lose weight!!! I love it! Now the challenge is to keep it going. Sinus problems are def the worst. I get asthma attacks when i'm around cats for too long so i gotta carry around that inhaler everywhere. And i've noticed when my sinus problems act up i get a little short of breath. Hmmm. I think you are on to something. So have you started atkins yet? I've almost completed my 2 weeks. Only one more day. I cant wait to see if i lost anymore weight this week. Although its hard with my brother home for spring break. He can eat like a hog and not gain weight! My parents are doing a low fat diet with fruits and veggies and so he takes my whipping cream and puts it in his smoothie that my mom makes for him and he says it tastes like a ice cream shake with all those berries!!! I almost lost it right there! But I'm so happy that i've already lost 6.8lbs the first week of atkins and i dont want to screw things up!
Oh Christiana How is Atkins going for you during your spring break? I'm sure its really hard. I told my friends and my bf that I would love to hang out with them but only if it doesnt involve eating or if we go to a place where i can eat meat or salad then its okay. Most of the recipes that i made so far have been from the www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com there is a lot of good stuff. Just click on Forum at the top and scroll down to the recipes. I created a dish that is super easy and that i love. (well i'm sure it was around long before i did it!) But i love tuna so i make tuna salad with mayo, tomato, celery, cumcumber, salt & pepper, and a hard-boiled egg. You can add any combo of those and then take cheese and put it on a plate and nuke it for just a few seconds to slightly melt and put the cheese and tuna mix onto half leaves of lettuce and its like a tuna melt! Obviously the more veggies you put the more carbs but mine are usually less than 3 carbs.
Another good recipe is
Mix in a bowl:
1/2 c. pumpkin (Libbys brand has 4 net carbs)
1 T. Butter
1/2 t. Pumpkin Pie Spice
1-2 packets Splenda (or you can use whatever sweetener you like. I bought the DaVinci SugarFree Syrups at Walmart for 3.49- they have different flavor and they are sweetened with Splenda)
Microwave for 30secs and mix. Then add:
1 T. Heavy Whipping Cream
I find the pumpkin recipes with cream cheese just don't taste that good to me. I think because the tartness of the cream cheese just makes it impossible to make it sweet enough with out a bad after taste.
I also made ~~Parmesan Wings~~ http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=50955
These were really good. I made them with Drumsticks and just watch for when the juices run clear. I think your mom could make these at home. But you could easily make the top two.
Oh have your mom go to this website: http://genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html there are really really good recipes there. For easter I made mock mashed potatoes with cauliflower, jalepeno cheese, salt/pepper, green onions, and put sour cream and bacon on top!!! Oh man was it so so good and 1 cup of cauliflower is only 2 grams of carbs.
This morning i made PANCAKES!!!! Ok so they aren't real pancakes but with the sugar free maple syrup i was in heaven! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=46811
There is also a website called Lowcarbfriends.com and they have a lot of recipes.
I've been eating alot of taco salad. I use turkey meat, spinach for the salad, sour cream, salsa, and cheese.
But so far my favorite thing is make eggs (i poach them but you can do scrambles, over easy/medium however) then i make gaucamole with 1/2 avocado, 1 T. mayo 1 T. Sour cream salt & pepper and tomato ( you can also put onion cilantro lemon/lime juice) and mix it in a bowl then put the eggs on top then put a little cheese over the eggs and then put salsa ontop of the eggs. SOOOOOO good!
Also SugarFreeSheila.com has a couple interesting recipes. Click on the Recipes on the left hand side.
Let me know if you make any of these and how they turn out!
GOOD LUCK BOTH OF YOU!!!

Points: 1,223.77 Bank: 951.85 Total Points: 2,175.62 | Whew! This week was nuts... getting back into the swing of school is difficult after a nice, long break.
Anyway, I decided to make my first "official" Atkins day Wednesday the 26th. So far on day 3, I've done really well! It's been pretty difficult to resist the sweets, but I've been eating a grapefruit after lunch and dinner.. seems to do the trick somehow I tried some lettuce wraps yesterday which were delicious! For breakfast, I've been keeping some cheese sticks and boiled eggs in my refridgerator that I can just grab on my way to class.
Also, I started a little journal that I just fill in at the end of the day (I've never kept one before). I have a place to write down what I eat throughout the day, any exercise I do, what time I take my medications in the AM and PM, and if I've felt wierd at all during the day. I'm pretty much a walking pharmacy and some of the meds I'm on give me problems anyway, so I just wanted to keep track and see if there are any patterns with the foods I eat or the time of day I take them.
Anyway.. Tabby, that really is awesome that you've lost that weight! Seeing results is the best encouragement, eh? I hope things really do clear up soon.. I was on an inhaler for several years back in the day. That can really be a pain. As far as the ticker thing, you might try searching google for other ticker sites?
Shawna, congratulations on making it two weeks!! Thanks so so so much for those recipes and the sites!! The tuna salad one sounds great, and I love pumpkin! I might have to try one of those on Sunday night (when I usually spend the most time cooking) I'll send them on to my mom and take a look at the websites this weekend. Thanks again for the tips.. I'm going to try to avoid going out for food as much as possible.
Good luck girls! I can't wait to hear back from you!

My Mood: Points: 3,639.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,639.34 | Hey Girls! How are you both?
Tabby i hope you are back to 100% soon! You've been fighting it for a while huh!?!? Lots of fluids and rest! Hopefully you'll get those sinuses cleared out soon! How is your progress with atkins going?
Christiana how has your first week of atkins gone? You know i used to eat grapefruit all the time and i did lose weight when i was doing that! hmmmmm i think i will do that in a couple weeks. Are you getting sick of the food yet? Hopefully you've found a way to adjust to this way of eating and school. Keeping a journal is a great idea. I bought one from Barnes & Nobles and i track my carb count for the day along with my food, water intake, exercise and weekly weight. I find that it helps keep me accountable and it helps me remember how many carbs are in all the different foods that i eat most often.
My second week was not as successful as the first but i noticed that i did partake of alot more Splenda and other foods (avocado & sour cream) known to stall weight loss. But luckily i've convinced my parents to do atkins with me starting the day after my birthday (April 5!!!!!). So i fully intend to cheat on saturday. Well probably friday too b/c i'm going to disneyland. But i've been really good so far so i'm giving my self two days! (I'd like to have a piece of birthday cake with ice cream and a Pina Colada!) And sunday i'm back to strict induction.
Oh question for you ladies...Do either of you take birth control pills? I took them a few years ago for like 4-5months and gained seriously like 40-50lbs. (i dont know if it was b/c of the bcp or b/c of a flare up of my pcos) So i'm hesitant to take them again but i'd really like to regulate my cycle. I've heard that Yaz is supposed to be one of the best for PCOS but dont know. So if so what are your experiences with them? (sorry i know its off topic for our little Atkins thread!)
Oh also Christiana did you know that the thread that you linked me for the game doesnt count towards our posts!!! Hahaha i just noticed it the other day. So i've been kinda trolling around for some good threads. I'll let you know if i find any!
Well best of luck to you both!!!
