Default Third time's a charm!!??? *sigh/cry*

I'm on my third round of Clomid. They bumped it up to 100mgs this time from 50mgs. I O'd both cycles last time, but they were pretty late O's - CD 21 and 22.

I'm really worried about this cycle....I ovulated but still didn't get pregnant, so I'm terrified that hubby has something wrong with him or there's something else wrong with me. I am so sad and frustrated right now. And I am starting to have those "mood swings" on this higher dose.

I'm wondering if I should do an IUI...or just keep trying. IUI's are so drastic, I just wish it would happen naturally. LOL, but I guess all these meds don't make it any different... Anyone get pregnant after THREE ovulations??? Did anyone O earlier on a higher dose of Clomid?? I'm wondering if my egg quality wasn't very high since I O'd so late.

I'm not very knowledgeable in the ttc arena yet, but keep in mind that each cycle, a woman with no fertility issues only has a 20 percent chance of getting pregnant. I'd recommend broaching these very questions and fears with your doctor. Not that others here can't give you better info than I!

April- as the previous poster stated, couples with no fertility issues only have about a 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle, so something to keep in mind. It definitely isn't a bad idea to have a semen analysis done. My DH was so reluctant to have one so we did multiple rounds of clomid before I convinced him. I thought there was no way in the world there would be anything wrong with him...I figured it was all me. Turns out everything about the SA was lousy, count, motility and morphology. If we had known that sooner we could have moved on to IUI sooner. I definitely would recommend IUI if you do find out there is a male factor issue. It is fairly easy, pretty painless and a lot cheaper than things like IVF. Also, have you had an HSG to make sure your tubes are patent?

Has your Dr. checked a progesterone level after your ovulations? The progesterone level could clue you in to how "good" of an ovulation you had. I personally didn't O on 50 or 100 mgs. I did on 150 but my #'s still weren't where they wanted them. 200mgs was the magic amount for me. I O'd well every time I took the 200mgs. I was also concerned that my O's were so late in the cycle because typically I O'd between CD 20-24. My Dr. said when I O'd didn't matter as much as the length of my luteal phase after ovulation. As long as the LP was at leat 12 or 13 days then it didn't matter when I O'd. He assured me that egg quality wouldn't be affected by O'ing later in the cycle.

Hang in there! Take it from someone who knows, being patient sucks! In the end it took me 9 cycles before I got a BFP, but it did happen. Good luck!!

hugs April!!!!
I'm finishing up my 3rd round of clomid now too.. I thought things were going well but my temp dropped today.. so I'm thinking AF is gonna show up either today or tomorrow. Sucks...

I personally would like to give IUI a try but my doctor wants me to try going on met alone... we'll see how that goes.

I def. think you should get a SA done. My bf wasn't too thrilled to have to ejaculate into a cup in the bathroom of my doctor's office though.. we found out later that he could've taken the cup home and then brought it back within an hour.

I am 99% sure i O'd 3 times on my own (well, with Soy), and 100% sure of at least 2. Third one was the charm for me though. I too thought there was something wrong with BF, so he had a SA done. I found out i was PG before i even got the results back (which were good).... I would get a SA done before moving to IUI though.

And just to let you know about the SA, for us, we went to the lab, picked up the cup, went home and "made his deposit" and brought it back. No uncomfortable doctor's office for us.

It could just take more time (I know that's the LAST thing you want to hear). I ovulated on CD 27 my first round, and on CD 22 the following 2 rounds, and conceived on my third (AND we have MFI - only 2% morph).

Your O dates are definitely not too late to conceive and won't affect your egg quality - I believe egg quality can potentially drop with a late ovulation - but by late I mean like after CD 30 or 35.

Good luck to you and God bless

It took me 6 rounds of clomid (5 I O'd) to get a BFP.

We had SA done at start of round 6...it come back lousy (only 4% normal form), but we kept on trying as we were told IVF might be the only option. By some miracle, the SA must have been wrong, or it was a bad day, or there was just a good swimmer that got through...who knows!

Dont lose hope...it can happen.

April - 3 times can definitely be the charm. On our Round #3 Clomid buddy thread, 5 of us got BFPs!!! It was awesome! I ovulated all three times too, with one chemical and then a good (so far) pregnancy on the last one (when I O'd on Day 20).

Sometimes things just don't happen, even when sperm and uterus and tubes are normal. Think about IVF - even when they inject normal, fertilized embryos directly into the uterus, they don't always implant.

At least you're ovulating! Good luck to you, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

(I had wicked mood swings on my last round and thought about quitting Clomid for good. Hang in there, they DO go away.)

April, I totally understand what you're going through!! I just finished my first two rounds of Clomid, I O'd both times on CD18/19, and both times got BFNs!! I am now moving up to 100mg on my third round, and my doctor wants to do a progesterone check this cycle to see what my numbers are. I am not feeling confident at all!!

I am sooo not ready for IUI or even to worry about getting a SA done, even though I know we probably should. My insurance doesn't cover infertility so I am concerned about how much this all will cost. Right now Clomid and Metformin are cheap and easy for me compared to the more drastic measures it might take to get PG. I am trying to stay positive but not having much luck.

April, I wish you the best and I look forward to hearing how this cycle goes for you!!

Thanks guys...I really hope this cycle is it. I am honestly on both sides of the fence. Some days I will feel like there's NO WAY it can happen, and other days I feel like HOW CAN IT NOT happen this time? You know?

Just be thankful your husbands don't have lichen sclerosus. On their penis. Hubby is having an ourbreak right now and I feel SO SO bad for him. I hope in two weeks Mr. Mister will be in tip top shape to BD every day...
