Salsal- The surgery was very minor. It was laparoscopic, so I only had 3 very small incisions (1 in my bellybutton, and 1 over each ovary) that required 1 stitch each. The procedure took about 45 minutes from beginning to end, and that included cleaning up some unexpected endometriosis and scar tissue. The worst of the pain was actually from the gas used to inflate my abdomen. It took a few days to get that all out of my system, and felt like bad gas cramps. I've heard of other women having severe pain in their chest and shoulders from the gas, but luckily I didn't have that. The first 3 days were definitely the worst, but after that I was pretty much back to normal, and off of heavy duty pain killers. I had the surgery on a Tuesday, and was back at work the next Monday.

As far as how I ended up having the surery, I failed to respond to Clomid up to 150 mg with my regular og/gyn. She referred to my RE, who put me on 1500 mg Metformin and tried 150 mg Clomid again. I still didn't respond, so my RE gave me the option of Ovarian Drilling or injectable hormones. DH and I decided to give the surgery a shot, since it could possibly provide a long term fix (not so sure about that at this point, since I can't seem to stop bleeding!) You're welcome to PM me if you have any more questions about it.

Ok two words and big cause of non-stop bleeding and chronic pain

UTERINE POLYPS!!!!

Had them for years upon years they are very hard to detect with an ultra-sound and often confused with Endometriosis. So yeah I was just throwing that one in because that to can be a big cause of non stop bleeding and severe pelvic pains

wow great thread, Ive been having severe pelvic pain for the past month now and even feeling sick to my stomach everyday i just missed my period im 9 days late now and at first i thought maybe i could be pregnant and thats what is making me feel sick , i was irregular but after taking provera the 1 time back in sept ive had a reg period since until now , the cronic pain can be soo unbearable at times and i agree with alot of you how you sometimes just lye there and cry because nothing helps to get rid of the pain , i didnt know that the pelvic pain could be cause by pcos and even went to my family doc and see did another ultrasound because i feel like my ovaries are just busting sometimes but everything seemed to come back fine

Default Here is so help for the ecessive bleeding..

Hello. I have have most of the symptoms of PCOS. The main one I was just dealing with was chronic bleeding. I bled for almost 4 months. Finally found a doctor in same medical group, that helped with a spruced up regimen of Birth control pills. 1st week was: 1 pill every 4-6 hours till stopped bleeding. Once bleeding stopped then take 1 pill 3x daily for one week. Then 2x daily for one week, then 1 pill daily for a week. Then one pill everyday (as usual).

Over the past year , I have gain and lost like 100 lbs. My hormones have been so off. I guess, once I meant my fiancee and better food (He cooks) and hormones did me in. Well I am back on track again. ....well I'm rambling.

Hope this helps.
OH by the way, I buy and SELL plus size clothes on eBay. Here is the link..

Thx so much!
Sunny

Several of you have had severe bleeding and pelvic pain, but what about massive clots larger then a silver dollar? I didn't get my period for approx. five months. In January it finally started. At first it was just spotting, but over the course of the spring it became progressively worse. I now have to change a super plus tampon every two hours. Does anyone have a clue was might be going on. Right now I'm without insurance and the NP that I'm going to isn't very helpful as well as expensive.

Unhappy new member intro - af won't leave.....

HI... I posted this before finding this forum so this is a repost...with a few minor corrections.....

I'm looked around here a few times in the past but never registered. I am finally at the end of my rope and I don't know what to expect...

I went to an ob/gyn in Feb '05. She told me all my symptoms where because I was overweight and gave me an rx for the patch bc. Told me to come back and see her when I'd lost some weight. Didn't fill the rx..........didn't go back to see her. My symptoms then where infrequent AFs but some would last 3 to 6 weeks.... cramping was never too bad though.
Aug '05 went to a different ob/gyn (dr#2), she diagnosed me with PCOS and Complex Hyperplasia. Had a D&C for the biopsy that diagnosed the Complex Hyperplasia. Started provera 10mg end of September (10 days) - hemorraged for several weeks after that, missed Thanksgiving - had an emergency D&C by another dr to stop the bleeding because dr #2 was on vacation. Checkup with dr#2 was a visit to the principal's office for daring to need medical attention while she was out of town (I should of waited on her!). Since the 1st D&C/starting meds my cramps have become severe - can't function severe some days.
After having it out with dr#2 I was finally referred to a PCOS specialist at a fertility clinic out of town. Started 40mg Megace and Darvosets to get rid of the CH and cramps. After first few weeks of megace and darvos to stop AF, I was on Yasmin for about 10 months (with a few breaks taking Megace to stop AF). No more darvos either - just ibruprofen.
Yasmin was about 10-12 days of AF and cramping each month.... wasn't working for me at all... mood swings too.....but the HC went away and all except one cyst went away finally.
Had surgary this past February to check out the one cyst. It was "borderline" cancer... removed right ovary - some of the cells inside the cyst where malignant but not the entire cyst and nothing had spread anywhere. I was lucky in that I know...... but since surgery I've tried Seasonique bcp (3 months of pills with only 1 wk dummy pills) .... had AF for 6 weeks or more, Orthotricycline & lower dose Megase next...severe mood swings, AF started again in week 3 of the pills......... now I'm in 4th pack of orthocycline taking them straight thru- skipping week 4 (dr's idea)... and AF has been with me for 11 weeks now. 2 weeks ago now - tried 3 weeks of 6mg estrogen w/ orthocyclen - cramping and AF was slightly better - called at 2 weeks of this and dr said give it another week then we'll try something else - called and dr is on vacation until 2nd week of August......................................I'm out of estrogen and just taking ortho and 800mg ibrupofen now....and AF and cramps are the worst they've been in months.........

found out my grandma has breast cancer 3 weeks ago too - no prior history in my family so I don't know how that will effect what meds I should or shouldn't take....

right now I hate all doctors..... I feel like crap 100% of the time now so joining a gym or exercising at home is pretty much out of the question - I work full time and college full time (flunking college at the moment too)....I take my meds on time each day and I'm just at my wits end. I did change my diet so that my weight stays within 10lbs of what it is currently - got my cholesterol down to normal by just eating more whole grains - no meds for that, so I think I'm at about 225 now at 5'6.
When I was younger I wanted to marry a writer and have kids.... now all I want is to not be grumpy all the time and NEVER see AF again......

anyone else had this happen? what meds fixed it?.............

Have you been diagnosed with hyperplasia before?... I was at that point after taking first 10 days of Provera (even had to set my clock for every 2 to 1 1/2 hours even while sleeping or I'd flood my bed)...... when I had to have a D&C to make it stop..... I know that doesn't sound helpful... afterward surgery I was put on 40mg Megace (megestron is the generic name I think) to make it stop. You'd need to be diagnosed whether you have hyperplasia or not though....it worked wonderfully then, but my problem now according to my doctor is the megace I took in... March I think... made the lining TOO thin so it's constantly bleeding.....

I have had chronic pelvic pain during the first 1-2 days of my period for about 14 years till I got pregnant. It somehow seems to have reduced as I got it just once after my period returned. But then when it pained, it pained more than any other pain i had experienced before including my delivery.

I had pain on the 2nd day during my bowel movements and cried out so loud each time i had to push. I was so tired, I could not do anything except lie in bed the whole day. Thankfully my mother was around to help me with my baby.

I spoke to my OB and she said it could be endometriosis. We'll wait for another bad period and see. After that I really didnt get pain.

I hope i am ok.

Before I saw my gyno a month ago, I had been bleeding for a year and a half straight, similar to kdwg8r (light brown and then whenever it decided, the floodgates would open....), and she did a biopsy, removed three samples which came back benign thank goodness, and then she started me on Yaz. I have been on it for a week and ever since she did the biopsy I have had terrible pain around the ovaries. She also said I had bad internal swelling because even when she did my pap (she caught me on a very light flow day thankfully) it hurt horribly (you can imagine how it was when she did the biopsy vaginally *shudders* while I was awake.) so she put me on diclofenac because ibuprofen (depending on what you are taking along with it) can cause an increase in potassium (and I am not on bp meds yet, that comes next. I dont have a PCP due to insurance changes, but that will be remedied soon as things calm down) but I have also been having wierd moodswings and my bleeding stopped the first day taking Yaz. I don't know what is going on but if I dont get straightened out emotionally... *shrugs* Im also afraid to switch bc pills because the last time I was on birth control (I cant remember the name but this was in 1997) the bc made my symptoms worse like others that have posted here. Having to change a super plus tampon, and an overnight bladder control pad (maxipads were a joke at this point) every 45 minutes and even then that wasnt an assurance I wouldnt have a mess to deal with. (and being in HS at the time on block scheduling was not very friendly to this) so I took myself off of them cold turkey after a month straight of that..... and I warned the gyno of my adverse reaction to the meds last time. I don't know what to do. It seems as though my choice is almost constant pain (like a rampaging penguin with an icepick...) ovarily, and weird moodswings (mostly just crying for no reason other than the sky is blue...) or bleeding terribly and still having the other side effects mentioned. *sighs* That and I havent been on the bc for a month yet so I may still go back to the flooding anyway....:/ I have tried IBprof. and Tylenol for the stabbing and alternately "sore muscle ache" type pain that centers in that area and it seems as though the Tylenol quick release tabs work for me but not very long....

I'm 15 days into a non-stop bleed while on bcp. My Dr said that I was prob ovulating and to stop the bcp for 5 days and restart. The pain has since gotten so much worse its actually traveling down my legs. He said if that doesn't fix the problem to come back and he will do an ultrasound. Why didn't he just do the damn ultrasound while I was there. Does this make any sense to anyone else? I'm really concerned that I may have fibroid cysts anyway feel like my ovaries are going to just burst at any moment. I've seen quite a few women out here say they've had the same feeling...that can't really happen can it? Ughhh so frustrating, (TMI) plus I'm having the worst diarrhea ever I assume the two are linked somehow...I'm totally afraid to eat or even drink anything! On the plus side I've lost 2 pounds! PCOS is soo frustrating...maybe I should have posted this in the rant section!

Unhappy

hello everyone my name is alisha1 from england

I am feeling really bad! I have had funny periods since i was a teenager but never thought anything of it! I am one of the lucky ones and have had two children without treatment but since my 7 month old daughter i have had massive problems. I have been bleeding for the last 4 months consiting of a light period, to floods. They are uncontrolable i dont know when im going to flood so its a nightmare going out.
Also the cramps i'm having are so bad they effect me walking as the pain travels down my legs and into my back.
I went to my gp and they referred me and i had a scan done which confirmed the pcso but also i have a enlarged uterus. This is all i have been told!
I was given anti-flamitry and pain killers till i get a treatment appointment but i have been waiting for this and havn't recieved one! I phoned up and they said they had missed placed my notes. I cant belive it and i am so sacred and feel im missing out on my little girl as i find it such a struggle every day!!!
I feel i have been left and it's getting worse as time goes on!! the bleeding, clots and the pain! I feel sorry for my partner being put though this!! he is so worryed about me! I don't understand why i have a large uterus if i am bleeding all the time!!
I am only 24
please tex me back i am only just holding it together
