Default For those taking Fish Oil & Anxiety

Do you notice an increase or decrease in your anxiety?

I've read the Fish oil can help with anxiety as well as your chloeterol. I used to take it regularly and it did help my chloesterol, then I moved and forgot to keep taking them. I recently started taking them again and noticed that they increase my anxiety. I know it is the fish oil because I quit taking it, then started again, and every day I had taken it my anxiety was up.

I've read that the type of Omega-3 that is in it is what is causing it. I just wondered if anyone has this same problem and found a brand of Fish oil that doesn't make their anxiety worse.

Thanks,
Lana

I take an Omega 3 Fish Oil tablet a day and I haven't noticed any change in anxiety. Off the top of my head I can't think of the exact brand but I bought them at Sam's Club so it is a huge bottle...I don't know if that helps.

I hope you can find something that doesn't make you anxious!

I also haven't noticed a direct correlation between the fish oil and anxiety. I use the "spectrum" mercury free brand, I got it at my local health food co-op.
Good luck!

I've noticed that it has helped with anxiety, but in conjunction with getting my low blood sugar under control. Low blood sugar triggers a fight or flight response that just adds to the problems.

An easy way to tell if omega 3 from fish oil will help is to check if you have little red bumps on the backs of your upper arms or thighs. They are a sign of Omega 3 deficiency. It can run in families too, my Mother and Brother also have those red bumps and problems with anxiety but they choose not to do anything about it.

You have to take Omega 3 supplements for some time before your body rebuilds it's omega 3 levels. It took about a year for the little red bumps on my arms to fade, but about the same time, I also realised that I'm much more relaxed under stress than I've ever been in my life.

Flax seed oil is also a good source of Omega 3 but make sure you're taking a supplement with both EPA and DHA listed on the label. Both parts are beneficial, EPA alone is OK but DHA alone will not help with anxiety.

I take the Kirkland brand from Costco. I haven't noticed a difference whether I take it or not with my anxiety.

Fish oil most definatly helps anxiety!!!! If I do not take Omega 3 Mood every single day, and I miss a few days or try to take another brand, I cant cope. It has kept me off of depression medication, and helped me to wean from generic Zoloft. I take 5 gelcaps every day usually. I have tried other brands, but nothing quite works for me except this, it is especially formulated for depression, the brand name is Country Life, and the name is Omega 3 mood.

The cheapest place to get it...
http://www.vitacost.com/Country-Life-Omega-3-Mood

Luckyvitamin.com and iherb.com also has it, and I have bought it from those websites also.
