I am just curious since my labs have all been normal and it was only through being persistant that I got a gynecologist to prescribe it for me, and its working fabulously just by the way I feel and the fact that I had my first natural period in 11 years just a week and a half ago. I know its working, but I was just wondering how a doctor would know since all the labs came back normal before I even started taking it. I don't see the endocrinologist until May of 2004 and by that time I should be pretty much "fixed", if you know what I mean...at least under control, maybe thats a better term. God help her if she tries to take it away from me...I'd chew her arm off...*laughs* |

You feel better, you're having periods...isn't that better quality of life what met is all about? Sometimes blood sugars (if they were high before) can be an indicator of Met success too.
The other way to know if it is safe and healthy for you is to have your dr test you liver and kidneys regularly. If there are no abnormal results or problems in that area and youre feeling good, you're good to go!

Even tiny changes in hormonal levels or the glucose tolerance test levels will show that there has been a change in your chemical mix. The main thing is results, though, and I'm tickled pink that you feel good. Hold onto that prescription tightly, but definitely make sure that your liver and kidneys are still okay. Some doctors want to test those quarterly, but I think that's excessive if you never showed trouble before.
Good luck with it,
Sheri
