Default For those who also take Met

Hi Ladies,

I'm wondering how I should spread out all of my pills now that I'm also taking Met.

I'm currently taking levothyroxine, a prenatal vitamin, a folic acid pill, and 3 pills of Met (1500 mg).

How should I take all of these throughout the day? What can I take together, and what should I separate, etc?

Thanks so much!

I'm in the same boat! I'll give you my schedule:

wake up & immediately take levothyroxine
1 hour later, eat breakfast & take 500 mg metformin
after dinner, take 1000 mg metformin + vitamins (I'm taking several kinds right now)

The levothyroxine is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, but the met. is supposed to be taken with food. The levothyroxine also says not to take it with suppliments, so that's why I take my vitamin to dinner time.

HTH!

I take my Levoxyl first thing when I wake up, eat about an hour later. I'll take my vitamins at lunch then Met in the evening. I'll be increasing my dosage of Met tomorrow to 1000 mg then next week to 1500.

It's no problem to take met with levothyroxine. Just don't take the levothyroxine with your prenatal vitamin...Levothyroxine has to be taken on an empty stomach and mixing it with a vitamin can affect its absorption.

When I was on met/prenatal/levothyroxine, I would take met and prenatal in the AM (I am a breakfast person and have to eat within 20-30 minutes of getting up) then I'd take my other met dose with lunch or dinner. I'd take (and still do take) my levothyroxine when I went to bed which is a good 4 hours after I've last eaten.

Thanks ladies!

This is what I've been trying: 1000 mg of met w/breakfast. Prenatal/folic w/lunch. 500 mg met w/dinner. Levothyroxine at bedtime. I think that has spread things out well enough.

Thanks again for all your help.
