To have everything come back completely normal? Don't let this freak you out... three years. First, I lost half my weight without exercise and it helped a bit but not really. Then I added in exercise but I didn't quit smoking. That also helped, quite a bit, actually, but still everything wasn't normal. Then, I quit smoking and the diet and exercise went out the window. Once I finally got everything going for me and I committed to a healthful lifestyle and was consistent about it, that everything finally came back normal and I put my PCOS into remission. Now, I can't believe I used to live any other way.
It's going to be different for everyone and I really hope you get there faster than I did. Just keep working towards that goal of kicking PCOS to the curb and you'll get there.

How long did it take you to get normal lab results?
It took me 14 months. (VERY strict, healthy low carb + twice a day workouts on the upper intensity levels, and regular strength training...also regular sleep habits.)
My diet was SUPER clean...lots of veggies, lean meats, good fats, etc. I didn't try to do 'low carb versions' of my favorite foods - I wanted to see what my body would do when everything was 'as healthy as possible'.
I recent dropped several points off of my cholesterol by following a calorie controlled low glycemic program, and working out 300+ minutes per week at the mid to upper intensity levels. My goal for the end of the year is to lower it another 20 points.
While 'eating better' and 'moderate exercise' can help me maintain my weight (sometimes), I only see significant changes when I put major effort into my diet (healthy and calorie controlled) and exercise (300+ minutes, higher intensity cardio, strength training). Walking 2 to 3 times per week, and 'cutting back' has virtually no noticeable impact on my body .

My lab results went into the high normal ranges when I got down to about 170-180 from 227- that took about 8-9 months for me. It was also at that weight that normal periods returned and came monthly- every month. Like the previous posters said every one is different though.
