I am supposed to start Yasmin this Sunday. However, I was just reading the drug info the pharmacy gave me and now I am afraid to take it. I have a couple questions about some of the info.
1. It says there could be drug interactions if taken with ibuprofen, neproxin or acetaminophen as well as vitamin c and prednisone. Have any of you taken these and noticed any drug interactions?
2. It also says it may take longer to get pg after going off Yasmin. I hope to have another baby and don't want to further hurt my chances. I have had a hard enough time. What are your experiences.
3. Have any of you that take it had glabladder when begining Yasmin. What was your experience?
Thanks for the help. I am a little apprehensive about starting this now and won't be able to talk to my Dr until Monday. I only became apprehensive after reading this leaflet. I am trying to decide if I should start Sunday anyway or hold off until talking to my Dr.
Thanks!
Amie

I am pro Yasmin, but I must admit it did take several months for me to start feeling better. (At least three.) It has helped me with weight loss by keeping my hormones more even and water retention. At first though, side effects included swollen breasts, terrible starvation (stomach knawed to eat constantly), then suddenly my body adjusted and I felt better. I have had gallbladder issues, although I was having trouble with that little organ before taking the pill. I think I have had one attack since starting the pill. (I don't have stones however,a nd the surgeon wouldn't take it out.) Anyway, as you see from my signature I am not trying to conceive so I couldn't help you with that, but do feel better with the pill than without. I hope this helps you make a decision. The pill is a personal decision. Although, I was EXTREMELY reluctant to try it, it has been a key player to keeping my crazy ovaries from acting up. (My doctor tried talking me into starting it six months earlier and I refused!) Good Luck!

Thanks Candace. I really want to start it. I am just nervous because of the gallbladder stuff and possible inflamed liver. I will find out Monday about my surgery so Maybe I could start taking it then.
Are you still able to use Tylenol and Motrin? The info said there could be a drug interaction. I was confused if these are hormones how can they interact with painkillers and vitamin C?

I found the info that came with Yasmin really scary as well...I started taking it anyway and definately regret it...I have been taking it a month and have never been so sick including some scary leg pains...I have gone off of it now and am back to my natural remedies which I always had good luck with...Basically, vitex had given me back regular periods and I was ovulating...Since everything seemed to be getting back on track I worried about pregnancy since I am not ttc just yet...My doctor reccomended yasmin for pcos so it seemed a good move...I have many friend on yasmin who love it so you should probably try it and decide for yourself...I discussed the interactions with my doc and he said they were nothing to worry about as long as I was taking normal doses of the pain killers...

I don't however use them everday but do take an ocassional Tylenol or Motrin for headaches. I do have cycle (on the placebo week) headaches which is due to the fluctuation in hormones.
Overall, it has been a good decision for me, but as you see from the post above it doesn't work for all of us. I have not had any side effects after being on the pill for about 3 1/2 years now. I plan on taking them until menopause.
Blessings!

I have always had terrible problems taking just about ANY BCP in the past, but then after being diagnosed with PCOS, my doctor wanted me on one and she recommended yasmin. I take it before bedtime and feel fine with it. I think the metformin is what is making me ill feeling. I take motrin ALL THE TIME and have not noticed any interactions. I have already had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago, so cannot help ya with that and want no more kiddos!
Hope to have helped! I say try it and decide for yourself what you think.
After just one pill, I started my period immediately, something I was unable to do by myself for over a year! Plus unlike the periods that come and go, these ones are not as heavy and clotty. I havn't experienced any of the adverse effects associated with the pill yet, but I've only been taking it for a couple of days. I do notice a little bit of cramping, but how can I complain? The cramping isn't terrible at all, I'm just a baby when it comes to pain.

i've been taking yasmin for over a year and have found it the best bcp so far. i tried marvelon and dianette, both gave me bad side effects.
however, i do need to check out my blood pressure again as it was pretty high last time it was taken, but it could be due to altitude. it's something you'll want to keep an eye on though.
also, it says that it doesn't put weight on, but be wary of that - keep a watchful eye. i've put on 20lbs in the last year and am off to weight watchers tomorrow :| bah humbug.
but all in all, yasmin has been great for regulating my cycle, sorting out my moods, relieving cramps, sore breasts and water retention.
by the way, the first three months might be a little erratic - but as long as you feel ok then i'd say stick with it as it does tend to settle into a normal cycle.
