~I'm especially interested in knowing if you were given letrozole (femara) instead of clomid.

Hay Ladies,

I tried clomid and I was a crazy girl on it and I had no good cervical mucous. I thought about trying letrazole and probably would have but I was so lucky to get pregnant before my first RE appointment. My ob's nurse said that letrazole tends to have less side effects than clomid but has the same action.

I am on metformin and when I take it twice a day, I have 32 day cycles and without it I have 45 day cycles.

When I got pregnant I was drinking soy milk on a regular basis and I was on saw palmetto, primarily to clear up my acne. I tried soy to ovulate and I am fairly certain that I ovulated with.

Honestly, I was getting to a point where I was willing to try anything.

Oh yeah, I found that months where I took soy for longer, a couple days at a high dose and then low doses through the rest of the cycle I had better cervical mucous.

Take care,

Carrie

Here is my story. Do lots of research. Try new things. Change doctors if needed. Advocate for yourself. For many of us cysters getting pregnant is a longer process. Have faith and patience.

1/07 off BC—no O
8/07 PCOS diagnosis, non-IR, thin cyster, 5'0, 130 lbs
9/07 Clomid, 50 mg—no O
10/07 Clomid, 100 mg—no O
11/07 Clomid, 100mg—no O
12/07 referred from OB to RE—more tests & labs—all in the normal ranges
4/08 Follistim, 75-150iu—overstim Canceled cycle
5/08 Follistim, 50-100iu, IUI, 2 follies, HCG trigger shot—BFN
6/08 Took a break—totally burnt out! RE pushing IVF…not ready to go there yet.
6/08 Went Natural. Diet & Exercise, Metformin, 1500 mg & Supplements---Chromium, Calcium, B-complex, Vitamin D & Cinnamon
Started Adoption process.
8/08 Totally surprised……. BFP!
11/08 At 20 weeks pg. now! Everything going well.

For me, just one round of clomid 100mg and I got pg with my twins. I thought it would be just as easy the second time around. Unfortunately, not so. I tried clomid 50mg for 4 rounds and finally got pg on the 4th. I miscarried at about 6 weeks. It's been almost two years since then and I've tried clomid, femara and now clomid plus injectables. I'm o'ing just not getting pregnant. I wonder if something is wrong with my tubes even though my HSG came back normal. Anyway, I'm just rambling now. But for me, clomid got me pg twice.

Thin Cyster using Femara here. Responded perfectly and quickly to it without any side effects. Even if its not a bfp, at least we know a good protocol to use next round.

I JUST got my BFP but I was using 100 mg clomid and accupuncture. This was my second round of clomid, the first round was 50mg and I didn't ovulate. This round on 100 mg my progesterone at the CD21 blood test was 17 (and that was 4 DPO based on my temp chart) so the nurse was happy about the "good strong" ovulation.

My only symptoms of PCOS are raised testosterone, NO periods/ovulation, and acne.

I think accupuncture helped. I started doing it on CD 2 this cycle on the advice of a friend whose sister had had success with it. I go see him every week, and will continue doing it. At the very least it helps with my stress and anxiety around the infertility process. My first time I didn't like it that much (hard to relax) but now when I go I fall into a deep meditative relaxed state and I love it.

For me I do ovulate on my own- its just VERY infrequent. We got our first bfp with no meds or anything, fate was with us that one time I happened to ovulate when DH got home from his last deployment..

This time we've been trying for 6 months now, I have only Ovulated once in those 6months and last was last cycle. I had taken 150mg of Soy, we didnt get bfp from that one unfortunately..

I did the same this cycle- 150mg of soy again and I was supposed to have ovulated on the 12th.. Im still waiting.. i dont think it will happen..

I have an appt with my OB on the 6th of Jan. hopefully I can ask about getting onto Femara..

also my only symptoms are raised testosterone, acne, very rare ovulation
I am pretty skinny, 5'7 at 120lbs so I dont know what drug options are open for me but hopefully something will work..

Default Just got my BFP using Letrozole/Femara

Toota -

I tried several rounds of Clomid at even the highest dosage and never ovulated consistently. When I switched RE's he suggested that we try Femara/Letrozole. The first round I took 2.5 mg and did not ovulate. The second time (and a 6 month break) I tried 5 mg and just got a BFP. I will recommend it to anyone! I had no side effects like I did with Clomid, my uterine lining was thicker (better for baby to make a home) and my cervical mucus was better. It's a miracle! I thought I would never get pregnant!
