Default for those of you who have dry scalps?

hi there,
before i was dx with thyroidism, my hair used to be really oily, now i have the opposite problem, my scalp is really dry and my hair ends up frizzy.

what do you use to stop the frizziness and dryness?

thanks

I am new to this board and had the same problems with dry scalp and dandruff for quite a few years. I had tried just about every dandruff/dry scalp shampoo that is on the market. My sister is a hair stylist and she recommended that I try Redken Solve shampoo. It is a bit pricey, but I use it almost daily and don't have quite as many problems as I did before. My hair is really short and the directions on the back of the bottle say that you are to wash and rinse your hair and then shampoo your hair and let it "soak" before you rinse again. When I was following those directions my scalp was itchy. I just now wash, let it set, then rinse and I don't seem to have any problems.

To relieve a dry scalp, try Nizoral medicated shampoo. It has to be prescribed by your doctor and mine cost 9.00 for a 8 oz. bottle. They do sell it OTC too, but it is half the potency. I only have to use it a couple of times a week. Good luck!

hi there
my hubby was using that stuff, his dandruff was gone and the dryness, but his hair started falling out like crazy, and he was only using it once a week, so i dont think i want to try that.

thanks for the suggestion though and the reply.
