Thoughts, theories, and questions... I have been really depressed lately. Like, can't function normally, getting out of bed and getting to work is a major accomplishment, go home stare at the wall and cry depressed. This has been going on for a few months now.
Today started pretty bad -- I didn't sleep last night, so today I was depressed AND tired -- not a good combo -- I was barely functional by 3rd period, so I took a couple of St. John's wort, which made a WORLD of difference, which makes me wonder if there might really be a chemical aspect to all of this.
I checked drug interactions with metformin and I found out a couple of interesting things. First of all (thank goodness) it is safe to take St John's wort w/ met. Secondly, I saw that met can interfere with b12 absorption, BUT taking calcium and magnesium can reverse that affect. Now, here's the weird thing -- lately I have been depressed all the time EXCEPT during AF -- and I take calcium and magnesium during AF for cramps. Does anyone know if b12 deficiency can cause depression? Has anyine else experienced this?
