Default Three Month Challenge - Feedback Needed

Dear Soulcysters,

I was just diagnosed with PCOS. My symptoms are unwanted hair, acne, depression, and 20 extra lbs. The doctor of course wanted to start me right away on four different px drugs. I have determined the "all natural" route is best for me. My plan is to take three months to try natural remedies and then see where I'm at from there. I do have the option of going to Dr. Hotze for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy but before I shell out $3k I would like to see what improvements I can make on my own.

Diet: 80% Raw
Gluten Free
Dairy Free

Exercise: Couch to 5k Program

Supplements: (This is where I really need feedback... is this too much?
#1 D-Chiro-Inositol, 1200 mg daily - lower androgen levels, IR
#2 Cyst Clear (Licorice, Peony, False Unicorn Root, Place Cohosh, Saw Palmetto), 465 mg 3x daily - Cysts, Hormonal Imbalance, Skin/Hair Issues
#3 Vitaman D (Any recs?)
#4 Prenatals w/ zinc and folic acid (Any recs?)

I would also consider including:
Maca Power, 1 1/2 tsp daily - Hormonal Imbalance
Sage Essential Oils - Progestrone / Estrogen Booster
Cod Live Oil Omega-3s
Vitex
Royal Jelly
Oil Pulling
Apple Cider Vinegar
Beetroot/Molassess
Castor Oil Packs
Any Herbal Tea (Recs?)

What would you include?

I know all of these things have great benefits but I don't know that I need to do all of them. Is there a lot of overlapping? My goal is just to be healthy. I want to make as much improvement as possible in a three month period (oct-dec) before I decide to spend thousands of dollars on treatments or take px drugs. I am not currently TTC but would like to start trying for baby #1 in early spring 2010.

Thanks so much!

Your Soulcyster,
Crysta

That is a very good idea to set aside 3 months to try natural remedies. It takes 3-6 months or so to notice big changes with natural things. I want to put a word in for the prenatal I took during my pregnancy, and before. I have a very smart and well developed baby to prove for it. She has been walking scince 10 1/2 months or so.

Here is the Prenatal

I was able to get really good ovulations on my period with these vitamins.

Just a thought if you want to go natural - my acu recommended using vitamins that are plant-sourced because they are more easily absorbed by the body.

Personally, I don't believe that the type of prenatal has any impact (other than health) on your baby. I took a prescription prenatal and my daughter is also smart and well developed in my opinion, even though she is not walking yet at 13 mos. I have another friend who I'm sure also took a px prenatal and her son walked at 9 mos.

I'm starting to do the same thing. I have high testosterone tons of hair loss, acne and whiskers. I'm not overweight. I'm afraid of birth control. So i'm changing my lifestyle. I'm doing the mostly raw some grilled or baked chicken or fish. Trying to cut back on the gluten now. No dairy. Only fresh juices, green smoothies and lots of water.

I'm taking 5000 mg biotin
360 mg saw palmetto
2000 mg evening primrose oil

Now I also want to include the Maca Root. I feel alot more energetic already eating more fruits and vegetables. Im completely cutting sodium out my diet. I hope this works. I'm also saving up for a wig. Hoping to not ever have to use it. This is my last resort before trying pills. All these pills sound horrible. I think its been my diet all along.

I'm really thinking i need that maca root to balance my hormones. I've heard so much good feedback from it. Hope it works for the both of us. Goodluck. I'm thinking i should up my saw palmetto dose after seeing yours :-P

I've been taking it for like 2 weeks and havent seen any results. Same as diet.
